Default LCS_Blue

available on Stash

DESCRIPTION:
Built from the Dead Ringer layout in White Tie's Imperial theme (R4).

UPDATE: 10/19/2018
- TCP: fixed issue with folder button location on meter layouts

UPDATE: 10/14/2018
- MASTER MCP: fixed FX bypass button not working

UPDATE: 10/14/2018

Really nice version, thanks Lucas!

Two small niggles if you don't mind;
There are no envelope latch preview images, so the theme uses inverted latch images instead.(TCP, MCP and Transport (global)).
Record monitoring button seems to have some glitch beneath it in TCP? edit: It seems to be a line on the background, showing through the monitor button depending on how the TCP is sized.

I check out and pass on new themes regularly, usually due to them being two steps forward and three back, but I'm keen on giving this a whirl : ) I spend more time on 15" and 13" laptops with no big monitor than with, so the new layouts with smaller screens and lower res have my interest. Nice work!

I completely agree with this sentiment! This is a great theme. If I may be so bold as to make requests if you continue to work on this in the future... I would LOVE a lighter colored backgrounds version of this theme, and an option where the Volume in the track view can be a horizontal slider. Great work overall!!

I have been using the default themes since I started Reaper in January because nothing has fit my needs entirely....until now. You've really given me everything I've wanted in a theme: flexible layouts including separators, great looking meters, easy to read labels in all circumstances, user friendly folder indications (which is something I couldn't grasp with white tie at all), and of course it looks amazing...on both a 60" monitor and a 15" laptop.

So, I just want to say a big THANKS for creating and sharing this!

Hi, Lucas

I'm really not fond of 'Imperial' like themes but, for several different reasons due to your work, I guess, this one avoid what I dislike the most in them : it seems less cluttered, especially the mixer strips which are a true improvement.

Overall, a nice looking and well working theme...

Bad news, this -is- the 'light' version.
If you want to just lighten the arrange area (area behnd the WAV files or media items), you change most of this using the Theme Tweaker.
For the TCP and MCP, if you are familiar with working with graphics, you can try modding the TCP and MCP backgrounds yourself using Gimp, Photoshop or something similar.
You'll have to unpack the theme, then find and change all instances of the following images:
- tcp_bg.png
- tcp_bgsel.png
- tcp_mainbg.png
- tcp_mainbgsel.png
- mcp_bg.png
- mcp_bgsel.png
- mcp_mainbg.png
- mcp_mainbgsel.png
some of these are inside the subfolders

Using the fader on the TCP is not efficient use of space.
I may include one TCP fader layout in the next update.
I will use the Meter Default layout and swap the meter with the volume knob.
Again, this is maybe, I need to see how actualy looks and functions before deciding to release it.

Is anyone using the No-Scale layout?
Specifically, the compact controls mode show in the image below.

I'm making changes to this layout and plan on removing this mode.
I may spin it off into it's own layout that's the same height, but will look a bit different.

UPDATE 10/01/2018:
Major updates and name changed to LCS_Blue.
Download it from Stash.
see first post and new screenshots for changes.

The old version is no longer available.
Since the new version has a different name, it should be safe to have both in the same folder.

Many thanks for this work. For some time (on and off)I have been using a very basic self-modded version of the original WT_D_R_C_4000XL_PRO ,I could not quite get my head around the code,or dream up/implement worthwhile graphical alterations. You have done a great job.It looks real nice on my 1400x900 monitor and layouts are very useful.

You're welcome!
White Tie utilizes some variables and/or macros in the code.
It can be very confusing.
If want to learn how to theme and haven't done this yet, I suggest you download the themer's guide and browse the SDKs found in Stickie #3 of this forum.

Oh, I love this colors. I see them I'm very colorblind and they just shine to me. I found one thing. In the attached image the number at the right of the tranport ain't in "the box", the top one and the middle (Start & End), they need to move down a bit.

I'm running Reaper For Linux but I don't think that's the issue...I hope

Thank you for all the hard work you put into making awesome themes.

Glad you like it.

I checked the transport again and it looks fine on Windows.
Appears to be a Linux issue.
Try the R4 Transport and see if that works for you.

Nope, looks even worse then default. Small transport is best when everything is horizontal.

Unfortunately, I am not setup for Linux.
There are also other issues that show up in Linux that I'm aware of.
The Linux version appears to render some things slightly differently.
At some point in the future I will try to get an install going and see what can be done.

I found some issue with the R4 default transport loop on/off button.
(I'm on a windows OS)
The intended mouse click gets intecepted by the start-end-length settings controls.
I am sure you can fix that for a future release,I am currently working with the Centered controls transport so it's not affecting my use of the theme.
I must also mention that I like that you included the optional Small transport.
I may well revisit those guides you provided a link for and see if the coding and graphical technique starts to come into focus, because I wanted to try and make a Buchla or Serge style theme at some point (I doubt I will ever get around to it though).
Thanks Lucas

Since this was a major version I took a look at it and figured out what to do for buttons.

If the coding is confusing, try just using simple syntax to get things done.
you can work out variables and macros later.
If making images is difficult, try taking images you like from a shared theme and manipulating them.
Breaking them down or apart can teach you how a lot of them are made.
only pull from the stash and give credit to person who's work you are using.

Default UPDATE: 10/14/2018

UPDATE:
10/14/2018
- TRANSPORT: fixed Loop button not working
- TCP: fixed small inconsistencies in TCP layouts
- TCP & MCP: made changes to layout names

Get it from Stash
Previous version is no longer available.
Make a backup or rename your current copy to something different.
The changes to the layout names means anything that relies on the names will need to be updated.
I think this applies to Screensets, etc.

@ prom
Loop Button fixed.
Thanks for the notice.

@ Tobbe
let me know if the update had any effect on the Linux issue.

Tiny change. I'm using another from you. Everything is top notch on that one.

LCS-mod_Short_v3.0_Dark = Superb for me. Strong colors on MCP and TCP. I changed colors in MIDI editor. Took the colors from WT_Imperial_Darker which are excellent.

Thank you
