Default how do i get rid of "undo multiple changes"

Something I find very frustrating is the setting (when working in MIDI editor) that undoes everything for the last hour or so. For example I have just been editing across multiple saves and then hit what I presume is a typo or keystroke with an incorrect window in focus and subsequently been returned to a much earlier version - possibly including deleted tracks and items

In the EDIT dropdown it will have "Undo multiple changes" as the last thing I have done yet I can find no setting for this.

I never want to undo multiple changes, I never want to jump back 30 or 40 minutes and reload deleted items, undelete notes, change velocity to whatever it was earlier in the morning sometime or other so would like to get rid of this completely. I have lost considerable time through this setting and cant see when I would ever want it

thanks for any help

Afaik "undo multiple changes" appears when Reaper's undo memory is full.
The size can be changed in "Preferences -> General -> Maximum undo memory use: ". (I have mine set to 256 MB, from default 64 MB I think)

thanks, mine is set to 256 also. Someone elsewhere has pointed out that to get a sensible behaviour one of the Undo Settings is "when approaching full undo memory, keep newest undo states" and that should be checked. The default is the somewhat thoughtless unchecking of that.

Ah yes that setting is a good point too.

So that's unchecked by default ? It's so long I have this enabled I don't remember. But agreed, having this unchecked by default seems rather strange imo.

I'm surprised I haven't come across this before so maybe it used to be unchecked (going by the old posts about this), got checked and then unchecked again in an update. Anyway, all good now , but I lost a lot of work
