Stella645, here's what's going on. I'll try to explain it clearly.
I have some large .wav files made from cassette tapes that I transferred to the computer (all original music from the last millennium). These files reside in a folder on OneDrive.
So last Summer I imported one of these files into Reaper so I could extract one song to master it. Naturally it was imported from OneDrive.
I did all the mastering, saving the project for the one song onto my project disk (an SD card).
When I went to open the project a couple days ago, that's when I got the unfound file error, because I had renamed the OneDrive folder a while back, and now Reaper was looking for the original source files on OneDrive, which no longer exist under the name that Reaper knows them by. My bad... brain fart.
I need those files to be in a folder dedicated to projects. I know how to do that, but long story short I wasn't able to get Reaper to look for the files in a new location, so I came here for help.
Your method described below in the quote was a major help, and I've now been able to make everything right again. So thank you!

I save the project and when I reopen it there's no more error because it's looking at the new folder now and finding the files.
