Default media manager (clips & plugins)

A thread i rade some minutes ago, and also some requests i had made some months ago (an "autosearch/replace for missing clips or plugins) made me think of something that could be very useful to get included in REaper, dockable just like the mixer/media eplorer/routing matrix : a media manager.

Here is what i have in mind :

That media manager could be opened automatically when starting a project where a plugin or a clip is not found, but would be also available when you need it.

A first window would display a list of :
- the selected clip/vst
- all clips/vst in a track
- all clips/vst of the project

Then, you woudl have access to the second window : the 'operation' window :

[OPERATIONS]

CLIPS
- rename (destructive= also rename the file on the HD / non destructive= the name changes only in reaper's display) ;
- move/duplicate (take a file from a folder, and moves it to another folder) ;
- erase (from the project / move to the bin) ;
- search / replace : the most usefull feature : autosearch for lost/missing/moved/renamed samples, and if the search is unsuccessfull, you can specify a replacement file. You could also specify a replacement file for a chosen clip (even if it is not missing when opening the project).

--------------------------

PLUGINS
basically, the same features would be here (even if for the plugins, we already have an excellent plugin manager : rename is already here, and so does copy/paste/remove, so no need, but
- replace : specify a replacement plugin would be of great help
- search for lost/ removed plugins ;

What do you think of such an idea ?

I want all the functionality, but I want it to appear in windows and dialogs that already exist. I suppose it doesn't matter if they also appear in a media manager also, but yet another window to manage isn't the same as the chance, say, to rename files when you record them, or rename a new clip as soon as you create it using the existing interface.

When I record something, there's already a dialog that comes up asking to save or discard - it's the perfectly logical place to rename them.

Likewise, I always expect "source properties" to offer this option, as that is a fairly basic option for a source file.

And it would take updating all references, but AFAIK that's a simple search through the .rpp file.
