Reaper sound just quit
Been editing all day with no issues, got to a point near the end of the project, and somehow the sound across all tracks has dropped out, still seeing all the correct activity across the track bars, but it's completely mute.
All other sound generating apps on my mac are coming through the speakers as normal.
Settings in Preferences > Audio > Device > default system devices
I'm wondering if I've accidentally hit a key combo and switched something on or off.... really need to get this job finished, can anyone suggest anything for me to try?
Ive seen some posts about plugins. I only have whichever plugins I think came with Reaper when I installed it (V 6.75)
Thanks.

1. **Check Master Mute and Solo Buttons:**
- Make sure the master track is not muted.
- Ensure no other tracks are soloed, which might mute others unintentionally.
2. **Check Track Routing:**
- Make sure the tracks are routed correctly to the master output. Sometimes tracks might get accidentally routed elsewhere.
- Ensure the master track is routed to your audio output device.
3. **Audio Device Settings:**
- Go to `Preferences > Audio > Device` and make sure your audio device is correctly selected.
- Try changing the audio system (e.g., CoreAudio, ASIO) and see if that helps.
4. **Reset Audio Device:**
- Sometimes resetting the audio device can help. Go to `Preferences > Audio > Device` and click `Reset`.
5. **Check for Muted Media Items:**
- Right-click on the media items in the tracks and check if they are muted.
6. **Check FX and Plugins:**
- Disable all FX/plugins to see if any of them are causing the issue. You can do this quickly by holding `Shift` while clicking the FX button on each track.
- Sometimes a plugin might cause issues. Try bypassing or removing them temporarily.
7. **Reboot Reaper and/or Mac:**
- Close Reaper and reopen it. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve audio issues.
- If that doesn’t work, try rebooting your Mac.
8. **Check Project Settings:**
- Go to `File > Project Settings > Audio Settings` and ensure everything is set up correctly, particularly the sample rate and other audio-related settings.
9. **Check Global Settings:**
- Check if you have accidentally enabled the global mute or solo feature. You can reset this by going to `Actions > Show action list` and search for "Global Mute" and "Global Solo", then disable them if necessary.
10. **Check Output Volume:**
- Make sure the master volume slider is not turned all the way down.
11. **Undo Recent Actions:**
- Use `Ctrl + Z` (or `Cmd + Z` on Mac) to undo recent actions in case you accidentally changed a setting that affected the sound.

Hi.
Master track volume was muted.... sigh.
Is there a shortcut I've hit accidentally that does that?
Feeling like a dumbass right now, but outside of what I do pretty much the same each month for our podcast, I don't go near the other settings....
Thanks.

Looks like you are controlling your interface connection with Audio MIDI Control. (Selecting <default system devices> in Reaper control panel instead of an interface or aggregate device directly.)
A different audio using app making a request could end up cutting the connection to Reaper. Selecting the connected device from the menu again (even if it appears already selected) and then clicking apply when the button un-grays is how to reset the device connection. But if the issue is a disconnect in Audio MIDI Setup (which you are deferring control to), then you really have to reset that in Audio MIDI Setup. Or just restart.
Have you tried resets or restarts yet?
Is there a reason for the choice to control the device from the Mac control panel instead of the Reaper control panel? Direct control from the DAW app is usually first choice.

Sorted now. Master track was muted, and I'm a dumbass.... never touched or seen master track before, must have hit a shortcut by accident.
Thanks though.
