Mix changes when opening in othe application
Can I get some help on this. I've searched the forum and can not seem to pin point a fix for the problem I'm having. Possible someone has been through this.
I'm running 64 bit Vista and Reaper x64 on lap top w/ core2 duo and 4gb ram.
I've got 10 recorded .wav tracks with no FX added ( recorded @24bit, 44.1 khz)
It doesn't matter if I render to a stereo track @24,44.1 or if I just send all my tracks to one new stereo mix track to create a .wav file of the mix, I have a problem.
The mix sounds good or the same in reaper. It's when a different app is used to open the .wav file The mix becomes real boomey and has a hollow sound as if my whole mix has been notched.
If I open the mix down track with a wave editor(wavosaur) in reaper, I get the same sound as well as in win media player.
It's frustrating because I've got a mix I'm happy with and when I try to bring it out of reaper it turns to crap!
Could the levels of my track be too hot and it gets clipped. I'm not in the red at all?
So to recap, If I bounce my mix down (no FX)to a single stereo track, the track sounds accurate in terms of the original mix. But if I open that new mix track in another app, a wave editor, it changes dramatically.
The only reason I'm doing this method is because the render attempts were just as bad but with a delay sound added.
I noticed if I try to record a mix track with latency compensation it will introduce a delay and sounds like reverb has been added. If I record it without latency compensation it is clean. Maybe that info will help someone else.
It seems like reaper interprets the .wav data completely different than other apps do.
I appreciate any help at all. Thank you!
