A Protest Song
A while back I read an article about Sheryl Crow where she said that nobody writes protest songs anymore. So I sat down and wrote a couple. This is one of them. It covers a few pet peeves of mine.
Again, many thanks to Karbo for his help and gentle pushing to get me to post a few of my songs here.

Good stuff!
I like the guitars, especially the solo.

The guitar motif at the beginning is stunning!
Only thing I would criticize is the distorted guitar sound/accord in the verse part as this sounds a bit foreign. Not sure if its the deep powerchord or the amp sound. If it was my song I would have tried to play this rhythm guitar an octave higher or with ... I don't know.
But it also could be my laptop as I'm not able to listen with my studio phones at the moment. And its of course only my subjective opinion.
Anything else feels great. Good work!

Thank you, Sir! I love playing slide but the opportunity doesn't present itself enough...

The reason for the low rumble on the verses is to give that sinister feeling, which fits the subject of the song. There actually is one guitar playing the chords an octave higher.

Great job, dig the slide, is that your Les Paul? The style reminds me of my southern roots.

Thanks, Karbo! Much appreciate your feedback and help along the way.
I think the slide was played on an ESP 7-string that I no longer have. I also used it on the rhythm guitar track along with a 5-string bass to get that deep, sinister sounding low end. I never keep good notes on my projects but I think this song was actually recorded anywhere from 5 to 10 years ago. I take FOREVER to mix a song...

Ah, there could be the problem on my side as I'm not able to listen with my head phones at the moment. And my laptop for some reason only gives one channel out. I'm such a poor little thing ...
Anyway. I love this song. Great work.

That's indeed nice sliding. How was the guitar set up (action wise I guess) - is it possible to play normally as well with the setup for slide?

Thanks, zeekat! The action was raised just a tad to allow me to get my 'feel' when playing slide and I could still play normally on it.
