Default Utilizing External Drive with Windows and macOS

Hey all,

I alternate between a desktop Windows machine and a MacBook Pro for music-making.

I utilize a lot of Kontakt and various other sample libraries that take up lots of space on my machines. I'm very interested in putting all of the libraries on an external hard drive and plugging it into whichever machine I happen to be working on (PC or Mac).

I realize there are different formatting settings for drives. I wanted to see if it was possible to format the drive so it can work with both Windows and macOS while using sound libraries. Has anyone tried this or have any input?

Thanks a lot!

should work with FAT-32, i think.

At least that's the one compatible format I know, there might be other solutions...

FAT32 is too limited as exFAT has downsides too.

I would choose NTFS and buy an app like Paragon to be able to write and not only read NTFS on Mac ... you‘ll need write access to update Kontakt instruments for example.
