Default ATK for reaper Channel Order?

I've got an IEM binaural decoder in the master bus, I'm using the ATK FOA encode stereo and the ATK FOA Transform focusPressPushzoom. For some reason, the Left image spans 90 to -90 clockwise in the focuspresspushzoom, and the Right image is 90 to -90 in the anti clockwise direction.

If i switch to the ATK FOA decode Binaural it works fine.

I've tested these chains

IEM Stereo Encoder-> ATK Transform FocusPresspushzoom-> ATK Binaural decoder

ATK Encode Stereo -> ATK Transform focuspresspushzoom -> IEM Binaural decoder

I assume everything is supposed to be in Ambix. Changing Encoders don't affect the audio, but changing the binaural decoder from IEM to ATK gives the correct stereo image.

Anyone get the same results?

ATK is using FuMa, IEM (and most other Ambisonics plug-ins) is using ambiX.

Before sending a FuMa stream to an ambiX software, you must use a FuMa to ambiX converter. And vice versa.

Ok so i've compiled a version of ambix to do the fuma to iem decoding. I'm noting it here just so i don't have to have separate notes elsewhere.

It seems like

ATK FOA encode -> ATK FOA Transform -> ambix_converter -> IEM binaural Decoder

IEM encoder -> ATK FOA Transform -> ambix converter -> IEM Binaural Decoder

both sound alike.

On the other hand

ATK FOA encode->ambix converter 1 -> ambix converter 2-> IEM binaural decoder

requires ambix converter 1 to mirror left<>right.

So what it means is if IEM ambix+sn3d encoding to ATK fuma+fuma always mirror left<>right. And similarly when decoding mirror left<>right.

I'm not sure I follow you, but, for 1st order:

• ambix is ACN channel sequence (WYZX) and SN3D channel weighting (W @ 0 dB);

• FuMa is FuMa channel sequence (WXYZ) and FuMa channel weighting (W @ -3 dB).

So,

• FuMa stream -> FuMa to ambiX conversion -> ambiX processing;

• ambiX stream -> ambiX to FuMa conversion -> FuMa processing.

If you mix and match FuMa and ambiX plug-ins, just be sure to apply the right conversion at the right point.

Oh right, i was noting how the conversions sound the same.
iem enc -> atk transform -> ambix convert -> iem binaural
atk enc -> atk transform -> ambix convert -> atk binaural

but in actual fact the proper way of converting would be this

iem enc -> ambix convert 1-> atk transform -> ambix convert 2-> iem binaural

with L<>R mirroring at convert 1 and convert 2.

It's that part I don't understand: is it something that *you want to apply* or is it something that *you think you need to apply*?

Because if it's the latter, you don't need to apply that transformation when going from ambiX to FuMa or vice versa.

You're right. Testing this out again, the L<>R isn't needed
