Default Plug-in description on add FX window

I'm not sure how this idea will be received. I admit that it's not particularly important, but I think it would be a nice aid to learning. I was inspired by EvilDragon's mockup for the add FX window in this thread. I had my own idea bouncing around for an improvement to the add FX window. My thought is that there are so many bundled plugins, many being very specific and a pretty obscure in their function, having a description of each would useful to newcomers. Actually, it might be useful to everyone. Something like this (obvously with real, useful descrions of function, input/output, automation, and not my lorem ipsum filler text)

I guess the obvious question is what the description window would show for non-Reaper plugins. I'm not sure. It sorta depends what kind of metadata VSTs generally come packed with.

Another, possibly easier to implement, option would be a hover-over tool tip thing which described the plugin.

OK. In a JSFX script, the propropriety format can be enhanced to hold a description Reaper can show. But what about all the other plugin types ? - Michael

Hey, mschnell. Well, what if it just showed whatever metadata Reaper has access to about the plugin, if it doesn't have the description? So if it is not Reaper native, it might be something like:

Kontakt (16 out)
-------------
Type: VSTi
developer: Native Instruments
Source folder: C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
plugin added: Sat 22 March 2014
-------------
Used 371 times
Used 0.451 times a day / 164.851 times a year
-------------
Crashes: 5
Will run as: seperate process
