I am an amateur singer. I use karaoke background music.
I just wanted to check in to ask you ....
We all know the Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Phil Collins, etc.... songs that you might hear at a karaoke bar, BUT, I am interested in finding more current and popular songs....and I could use your help.
There might be vocalists that I might not think of right away and so, I wanted to check in to get your input......
So, if you saw me post some songs online, which male vocalists and which songs do you think would get more plays.....??

I'm going to betray my age, but Layne Staley from Alice in Chains.
I sing the way I do pretty much because of him.... Although, surprisingly enough, I sing a lot more soft pop and jazz songs than rock recently. Everybody evolves..
I'm pretty sure nobody will know AIC if you decide to sing that in a karaoke bar though
How about the guy with red hair who looks kind of like Prince Harry? Solo act, plays guitar and relentlessly punches the foot pedal loop box..... Pretty sure he's popular, because I see him on TV all the time and my daughter thinks he's great. I just don't know his name.

Maybe Ed Sherran?
Adding Sam Smith
Neither is my favorite nor have I even heard them really but they are famous and current.

Ghost is pretty popular with people who like that sort of thing, and I do like Tobias Forge's voice.
If you can make Lorn's stuff work with traditional vocals, you might get some interest that way.
Huh. I just went through my whole Bandcamp collection and there's one album with some vocals on it (that aren't just samples), so maybe I'm not the guy to say what would be popular.
