Default cant write to recording files, does directory exist?

Started Reaper this morning, click record and get the following error:

"cant write to recording files, does directory exist?". I check the directory and the drive is there, accessing it is no problem.

Go to record again and same error. Decided to take out the directory paths and leave the options blank and again same error.

The only change made recently was getting a new Glyph GT050Q external hard drive, using the firewire cable. I am able to copy/edit/delete/create files on this drive with no errors.

Closed Reaper and opened a new session in Audition 2.0. Was able to record with no problems.

Anyone have any suggestions/solutions for this issue?

I upgraded to the latest version of Reaper v.3672 and still getting the same error.

Checked all of my drive locations and they are running with no errors.

Has anyone gotten this error before? Reaper is dead in the water to me right now.

I would try creating a new folder (on another disk, perhaps) and try recording to there.

Default Did you...

Try saving the 'project' to its own location, before trying to record.

Any difference??

Here is what I have done further today:

- **Created new folders and changed location to them in Reaper: still errors
- removed the location from the options>path settings: still errors

**The folders were put on two different drives.

I am at a loss because there has been no change to my setup except adding the new Glyph external hard drive. I can record to it from Audition 2.0, ableton live etc with no errors.

Might do a fresh install of Reaper and see if that helps.

After deleting reaper and doing a clean install, its able to record again.

I still would like to hear from anyone, that has some suggestions as to why this would happen.

FYI for those that want to know the solution. I had the error pop up yesterday and realized one of my external drives were not powered on.

I shut down reaper, powered the drive and then changed the default recording path back to the drive in options.

Simple mistake, but it drove me crazy for a bit.
