Default How to see the spectrum of a sound file?

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is any way to see the spectrum of a sound file, without having to play it repeatedly. I tried the Frequency Spectrum Analyzer Meter and different EQs, but the graph fades when the sound ends. Is there any way to freeze it?

I use Audacity for this, but I want to know if there's a way inside Reaper. I found Voxengo Span and other plugins, but I'm mainly in Linux and couldn't make them work.

Thanks!

You could try using the spectrogram view mode (see Peaks Settings). It's not a spectrum analyser display; it plots sound with freq on the vertical axis, and amplitude as color and brightness.

Probably wouldn't be too hard add a hold functionality into the JS: Frequency Spectrum Analyzer Meter - maybe ask in the JSFX and ReaScript Discussion - maybe someone's already done it.

Alternatively, have a look at the linux studio plugin collection - a few spectrum analysers there http://lsp-plug.in/
