Default We need a video processor sub forum

Why? Because this is the most neglected feature of Reaper. Most people don't know what to do with the presets. What is chroma key? What means crossfade thru inputs?

Reapers video skills are amazing but they live in the dark shadows of the main intention of a DAW. This could change if VIDEO gets a bit more in the focus. It would be fun to have a place where people can post presets and preset requests. Where people could share websites with free video stock material. With self made blend modes and tips of how to solve problems or ideas. And the most important would be a place where all the presets get a proper description with examples etc.

Please discuss, if you share my thoughts. I mean Ambisonic got its special forum. Why not a Reaper video section? I raise my hand to start with a thread showing how the default presets work. But of course there should be other opinions considered. I have no idea if most of the things I want to get gathered in one subforum already exist in a wiki or manual. At least I didn't find a good place with all about video.

So whats your opinion?

Greetings
Eli

+1 !

I am a total video processsor noob, i don't understand all the video terminology,
but i would very much like to learn and i think a video processor subforum would be the ultimate place for that.
A greater understanding of videoprocessor would mean that i am problaby gonna use it (way more).

+ 1
(Obviously this also is beneficial for non-video users as they easily can stay away from this topic.)

-Michael (of course repeating the long standing request for a "Live usage" sub forum, which would already hold at least hundred threads ...)

Sounds like a good idea to me. I do pretty much all my video editing in REAPER now.

yup. There's no good way to keep track of all the user presets that have been shared here in the past 3+ years since the v5 betas.

It would seem reasonable to have a video editing subforum if we want Reaper to be known as a reasonable option for video editing.

In the interim, you guys should at least propose a sticky for "video how to's" that can live beside Airons exporting/playback thread in tips and tricks. Actually, looks like there might already be one?

Besides the "Video" and the "Live usage" sub forums we also need one for "Control surfaces".

There are lots of stray massages that should fill all of these ...

Sticky "video how to's" are not even a compromise. I mean, we are talking about a complete section of Reaper with lots of possibilities. As I mentioned, its not only "how to's". We have a lot of video processor presets scattered all over the forums which should be in one place. We need threads with resources, free stock videos, tutorials, video processor preset descriptions etc. And its just annoying to have only ONE thread with hints and how to's for that. Who is browsing such a thread with different subjects, questions and answers all mixed up in chaos? Me not. This is just ****!

Its always a problem for geeks to think user friendly and keep things tidy. You just need to take a look at 80% of sourceforge stuff. Most of the software is inaccessible because of missing support or nonexistent user assistance.

If we had a video sub forum, you could go there to find threads of all the things that i have mentioned. Not one sticky thread but some more sticky threads and tons of threads about video in Reaper. Its time to make this happen.

My post began with "In the interim" which is another way of saying "while we wait".

I understand. Didn't mean to reply only to your post but wanted to intensify the request arguing.

I'm not sure we want that, it's better kept as a secret

That was fast !!!!

But IMHO "Reaper for Live usage" and "Reaper Control Surface Integration" subforums would be even more active and requested (calculated from the count of appropriate messages I saw this year) .

-Michael (slightly frustrated)

The MIDI/OSC forum has been the de facto control surface forum, let's just make that official with a slight edit...

Adding a REAPER for Live use forum...

Great ! Thanks !

I'll do a thread in the "Live" forum with supposedly lots of messages denoting threads that I think should be moved there ...

The most active thread (currently 51 pages) handling Control Surface issues is this -> https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=183143. Unfortunately in the "general" forum.

Maybe it should be moved in the now appropriately renamed forum-

Thanks again,
-Michael

Not sure if you opened Pandorra's Box or if you've released the Kraken. Anyway. There is no way back.
