I had to log in and say how much I love this track.
I'm an Aussie prog lover,Genesis are my favourite band.
Loove it mate.
I've been drumming for 30 odd years and it's so hard to get a band together doing prog let alone finding a venue to watch some prog.

Very good work!
Henge,
I'm not a big prog fan, but I love good music and admire great talent and you qualify on both accounts. If I were mixing the song, the ONLY item I would change, is that I'd shorten the intro and get to the guitar faster. You're not writing formulaeic(?) pop, so the searing guitar is the hook that's gonna grab everybody. 8-10 bars in to set the foundation, then Blast off man!!
Awesome job, and if you're into letting us in, how'd you do your drums?

I looove the intro, its rhythm. The inconspicuous 7/4 riff starting at about 0:33 (Okay, i'm a drummer but a musician at all too)
An then the floating dissolution by this marvelous guitar playing!
So in my opinion it should remain as it is It's a masterpiece
(I'm also very interested in how the drums are done, probably a real drummer?)

What a great song. Well done henge and everyone else involved.
The only teensy "not quite right" to me was the strings, which to me didn't quite have the 'pro' sound that everything else does. All the other solos showed off really classy sounds (as well as great playing).
This must have been a major effort to put together, but I'd say the result is well worth whatever it took.

Great name for a drummer smasha. Thanks for liking it!. It's funny, here in my neck of the woods a band has started a prog night at a local pub. Any body can get up and play any prog tune they feel like. The jam band is smokin' hot and knows a ton of stuff. If i have time I was going to go down and jam roundabout!

I really appreciate the feedback FriscoSam! Yeah the beginning is too long....but it's prog !!That's my excuse for the day! " Oh sorry, didn't mean to rear end you...but it's prog!!!" It's a matter of taste.
The drums are programmed in BFD2. An amazing piece of software. No special techniques for programming it. Just keep moving triangles around in the midi editor till you hear what you like.;-)

Hey Michael. Nope it's all prgrammed. If I hired a drummer that was good enough to play this stuff he ( or she) would be making more money off this album than I would be!

Thanks a bunch toft. Yup the strings suck! Their from an old proteus. I don't need strings all that much so I've never invested in a good library. Any suggestions, one that's cheap but decent?

I want to say thanks to everyone for the compliments on the guitar solo. It was a real pleasure (and challenge) to contribute something to a song of this caliber.

did you and quietroom collab electronically or did you both record locally?
the song feels like an epic so the length is justified.
good job

Quietroom is in the U.S. and I'm in Canada so it was an electronic collaboration.
