Please fix this!
Just venting a little frustration here and re-emphasizing an issue. This happened to me again last night and it drives me nuts! Imagine the frustration when you're working on a mix when suddenly you start to hear phasing issues on some tracks and numerous fader settings begin to sound screwy...only to find you have 20 hidden tracks that have become active and are now playing back at the same time.
Inadvertently clicking a track Mute button while pressing the CTRL key will unmute all hidden tracks. This is a freaking pain in the ass when you have a ton of tracks your not using but still don't want to delete (for example tracks that have been rendered to a buss stem). Very few things in Reaper kick off a stream of profanity..but this one does.
There's an elevated FR here to have a real disable track option:

Yeah, I know I can be sure to kill every single track routing before hiding it, but damn...just let me disable the track and move on. This a no brainer. I hope this gets fixed soon!
Regards,
DB

Well, Ctrl+click on Mute DOES mean "Unmute all". Why making exceptions, then? There's nothing to fix there, but I second a real disable track option.

If you catch it quick enough, ctrl-z will get you back quickly. Hopefully you haven't done too much work in the meantime.
+1 to a proper disable as well though.

I agree with this, unmute all should do what it supposed to.
Actual "track offline" mode would be much more welcome.

+1 billion to offline tracks. We really desperately need a de-activate track option that mutes it and freezes all of it's items/controls.

important not to change current HIDE behavior!
i sometimes want a track to be hidden but still active/unmutable (thanks for the recent solo lock or w/e feature they put in that allowed me to do this!!!)
so: keep hide, add "bury"

Sorry if I was unclear. Just a little frustrated. The real issue here is not necessarily to fix what the CTRL+click on Mute does, but to stop that action from unmuting hidden tracks I don't want unmuted. Obviously, the fix here is to be able to assign a track as disabled or archived so that nothing that is done will affect that track until it is removed from that state. I think most of us will agree that would be a very welcome feature.
Like I said, there is an elevated FR regarding this. Just squeaking the wheel a bit in hopes it gets implemented.
Regards,
DB

I tend to mute the file in the TCP rather than the channel when keeping files I know I dont want to use in the mix. Saves that headache.

This wont always work and I'd prefer to disable tracks but I select the tracks I want to mute and then hold alt whilst left clicking the I/O button to stop it going to master or parent (but doesn't stop sends though)

We should remember that we can't hide tracks from both MCP and TCP (unless we're using SWS' Track List) so it would be confusing if you Ctrl+click on mute and some tracks remain muted in the TCP or MCP. As many here, I agree a real "disable/set track offline" feature would solve these issues.
