Can someone combine V6 default theme with White Tie's transport bar?
Hi, All,
A little while back I asked if anyone knew who made the theme in the image/link below. I've used it for years but renamed it for some reason so I couldn't ID it. xpander found it for me in the Stash, done by haggim.
Can anyone do this for me? I have no idea how to accomplish something like that.
Thanks for even thinking about it!

White Tie is the person, Imperial is the theme. Both are overrated IMO.

Ha, White Tie, I stand corrected, at least about it being the Imperial theme.

If you want to try yourself:
(Assuming you are already familiar with unpacking a REAPER theme and locating the files...)
Open both rtconfig files, from Reaper default and Imperial theme folders. Find the line entries under the heading: 'transport' and remove the whole block of text from the default theme's rtconfig. Then copy/ paste the whole block of 'transport' text, from the Imperial theme, into the default theme's rtconfig.
Now you will have to locate all the images from the Imperial theme folder, relating to 'transport' (trans), then copy them across, from Imperial to default, thereby overwriting them.
Be sure to make back-up copies or don't blame me when something goes horribly wrong. White Tie would probably tell you not to hack around in themes, because there could be some other code, further up, preventing a smooth transition. But, for what it's worth, it's worth a shot. At best, you might learn something or, at worst, you will just make a mess.
If all this sounds unfamiliar to you, then you will have to familiarise yourself with unpacking and modifying a theme. In which case, there is plenty of information to be found in the stickes of this forum section.

well, thanks, Oakley, you laid that process out in a pretty easy way to understand, but it kind of scares me, and, it would involve dedicating a chunk of time that I don't have right now (just to go slow and make sure I back up everything and don't mess up).

What you are looking for would be a beginner level mod that should cause you no problem. If you follow the instructions for unpacking a theme in this sticky then you can work on and use the unpacked theme without consequence because the packed theme will remain as your backup.
See WALTER : A themer's guide to learn how to make a layout. Make a layout in the default theme that contains the transport WALTER from imperial, and points to a folder that contains its images. That is all.

What is this nonsense? I encourage anyone and everyone to try out theming. I have years of posts, guides and the content of my themes to support this, and I'm perfectly able to speak for myself.

Didn't you write this?

Learn how to WALTER simple things yourself, from scratch, to get an understanding of the basics . Complex WALTER will then be much, much more decipherable.

I'm sorry if I offended you, WT, as I meant no disrespect. In fact, I was just corroborating your advice that I, myself, am following. Not, in anyway, suggesting anything, other than that you DO encourage everyone to try theming. I thought you would appreciate it - but obviously I was wrong, and I apologise for any misunderstanding.

Modding themes and learning WALTER are two completely different things. You do not need to understand this, I'm just asking you to not put words in my mouth. Settle down.

Settle down? I've just apologised for any misunderstanding. I'm not the one complaining, here.

I had already edited it before I saw your reply, WT.
"Sorry for any offence" was my apology.
I shall remove my post entirely, if it can't be settled any other way.
Look, WT, please try to remember that a great many people, including myself, greatly appreciate all you have done for the REAPER theming community, and that sometimes, people make mistakes.

Never mind. Thanks for at least responding, I usually don't get any responses to my posts.

I did have a try for you, early this morning. I was half successful... some of the images would not load. Shame. Maybe contact the author of the other theme that you liked, and see if they would be willing.

Thanks, Lucas, too late to try tonight, but will certainly check out ASAP.
Thanks!

PLEASE NOTE:
This does not replace the default transport.
In order to load the transport from your theme you will need to go to:
Options/Layouts/Transport
The Imperial transport layouts are at the bottom of the list.

Thank you, Lucas_LCS! That worked great. I'm not sure what tweaks I might make to the color scheme, but I like the Imperial transport at the top.
Thanks, again!!
