Default LinuxMint: Audio Device Settings Unavailable: Stuck in Rewire Mode

Hi folks,
I have just now started using (not installed) and running Reaper in a fairly new LinuxMint setup.

Before that I prepared the system as follows:
1) Low latency kernel
2) Added to "limits.conf" 2 lines: "...rtprio 95" and "...memlock unlimited"
3) Rebooted

I started Reaper and imported a ReaperConfigZip from my Mac. So far so good, only one problem remains:

Audio Device Settings unavailable in Preferences: Seems stuck in Rewire mode for no obvious reason! So I cannot select the audio system.

I researched to no avail so far. What can I do to set up the sound system properly? (Audio in Firefox can play.)

Here are my system's data:
Computer: HP EliteBook laptop i5 dual core with SSD
Audio: Onboard system
OS: Linux Mint 20.1 "Ulyssa" fully updated.
DAW: Reaper 6.32 latest version, no Rewire capable software present.

Try selecting ALSA as the audio system, then on the right are two drop down panels for input and output. Click the down arrows on those and see if you can select your audio device.

The pane is grey and nothing can be edited there. So I can't select ALSA. All that is there is a line which reads:
"Settings Unavailable", and:
"These Settings Are Not Available in Rewire Client Mode."

That sounds like the file you imported might have something to do with it. There is no rewire for Linux. Try looking at the file reaper.ini which will be located in the following folder.

~/.config/REAPER/

In the [REAPER] section is where there's probably some reference to rewire from importing.

Note: the .config folder is a hidden folder so you'll need to allow your file browser to show hidden files and folders.

Default Glennbo, thank you very much!

That was relevant!

I set two Rewire-related entries in "Reaper.ini" to "0" and was able to successfully select the ALSA driver in Reaper's preferences!

Woot!

Sounds like you've got other stuff set so you may be ready to rock.
