Nothing technical, but 0.1 second is the default automation return frequency, and was roughly the automation recording frequency until recently, so it seemed like a reasonable limit. Even with the current automation recording frequency, you'd only get 2-3 automation points in an 0.1 second automation item, so if it were any smaller it would only hold 1-2 points.

I understand but you're seeing this from a recording automation standing point. It would be nice if there was a way to have a different situation when items are drawn because we've always been able to work with grid sizes of 1/32 and 1/64, talking about adding points. I guess we can just use the old way without automation items but they're so easy to work with that having a limitation like this would be sad.
