Default VLC says there's 17 streams...?

I just now rendered out a video with stereo audio, H.264 45%, AAC 128kbps. I can view the video fine in the project, but VLC has problems playing it, it simply does not play it but gives no error message, nothing. If I check in VLC Media information under the codec tab, VLC claims that there are 17 streams, numbered 0 to 16. I expected one video stream and one (stereo) audio stream.

Trying to load the video into Reaper, it tells me "Could not import 1 of 1 items".

Available decoder information is:
Code:
Using output: DirectShow
Current video frame: 1920x1080 'YV12' #50

Available decoder information:

Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?

Rendering as mkv, which VLC again does not play, when loaded into MKVTools I get told that "No EBML head found. This file is probably not a Matroska file".

What is going on here...?

If I render as AVI, VLC plays it and says that there are two streams, one video and one audio, just as expected. I can also load into Reaper and play it there.

But neither VLC nor Reaper play the audio from the beginning!

When playing it in Reaper, each time I play it, the audio starts later than it started the previous time. So, first time the audio starts after 2 seconds. Hit pause and play, audio starts after 4 seconds. Hit pause and play, audio starts after 7 seconds. Hit pause and play, audio starts after 10 seconds, etc... And now Reaper crashed! Playing a video it created itself.

Has anyone experienced this?

Yeah, I have several version of ffmpeg herem, I'm using the latest one that did not have this issue https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=245135

Yours is newer than the ones I have tested v58.54.100, v58.91.100 (4.3.0), v58.91.100 (4.3.1), v54.92.100. All of those have problems with h.264, AAC, and/or mp3. Maybe I should try that newer version.

Thanks.
