new Ninjam session w/ video
My friend Rainer and I made this video. He is in Munich, I am in Florida. We each shot video and then exchanged parts. I put this together. There were a few dropouts but that was his gear not the NJ client.
http://www.vimeo.com/4063396
i have since done a couple more with others and am setting up even more as time goes on. We are both loopers and it was a gas.

I'll put this on NINJAM TV, you should check out Ninjamers.ning.com, diek pointed me to this thread after I was saying similar to him.
We need to get some video clips of us all mixed to one vid for playing as background when we do Shows on NINJAM TV.
We are all, in this thread now are loopers.
We have a Group you can join if you like on Ninjamers called Loopers.
Nice Vid.

Dude... I am jealous of your mighty rig. Good show. I want in on the next one
The sharpness filter(?) on the video makes it a bit hard to watch, btw. Not to complain, just sayin.

Glad you liked it. Yeah I went a little overboard with the video fx, hehe.
You can find one other NJ vid and others by me at http://www.vimeo.com/jeffduke
Lets do one together. What do you play?

oh yeah, some of us are trying to figure out how to use Ninjam with Ustream for live audio/video jams. It is the future I am sure.
Glad you liked it. It's lots of fun to make these.

On NINJAM TV it can be produced live and peoples cam feeds can be used but audio changes as came is unless someone pulls the cams local to them then mixes them back out.
Another way is for people to prerecord video clips of them playing then these can be fx'd up or thrown into a VJ prog of some sort.
For live video jam with each other we normally use Mebeam as its easy to use, just load a page, and ya on.
http://mebeam.com/ninjamers
2 or more people need to be connected or it times out.
The other way is using Flash Media Encoder and all having Justin.tv, ustream, stickam etc accounts and all there video's embedded on 1 page.
I started to do similar on Ninjamers, u can see from the menu.
Using FME people can control quality and bandwidth used then just start it up and click start and they would be live on the page.
Mebeam is a bit of a prob for rebroadcasting peoples cams as they resize when more join and move around.
If I get a chance after I finished the garden here I'll sort out the cams page and get more people on it and do some help's on getting setup on it.
Also I'll go check the loopers and accept ya join request.

On this mebeam is there someway to use line in audio with it? it works for me but only has mic for input showing. i didn't really try it much. just got a split screen with my wall and someone elses space. Also I'll look at and send off this info to others much more technical than I!
I have been using Ustream but the FME has been tough, it keeps crashing Firefox when I try to use it. Probably user error! I do have a ustream account and would love to figure this out. I'll be awaiting your posts eagerly.

Its worth also looking at http://justin.tv that also when you click broadcast has a link for FME setup, it gives a downloadable file to load into FME which sets it up correctly.
Ustream is more difficult for use with FME.
I use with Mogulus and Justin.tv with no hassle and both sites have enough info to get setup but I will some time soon sort out a mini guide.

Sounds good AndyMc, I am setting up a channel there. I have not been able to get the Ustream FME to work yet. Also I see that justin also has a function for Chromakeying and other vid fx. i happen to have a green screen all ready to go. A guide would be nice. I "get" this stuff but i am a little slow at first.

Hmm for Realtime Chroma Key its worth using a genlock of some kind, a few software chroma keying in realtime can be found in Manycam and Webcam Max.
Manycam allows for removal of logo before purchasing which is good for giving it a test run. It also allows for creating your own background video or images.
I've used it in fun ways before by recording my self walking around looking at myself in the chair (I'm not really in the chair but am when chroma keying :P)
But having a green screen of some kind will help get a better result from the realtime chroma fx in both them programs.
They work by taking a pic with you not in the shot then when you are back int he shot it see's the difference and knows what to remove but a good steady light source in background shot is better.
Some have dark behind them but there lit by there monitor, this helps loads as behind is dark but there light so the background doesn't error on chroma, same should go for a green screen.
If a few people recorded some video with a same color sheet hung up behind them then it could be made to look like all are in one place but would probably take 1 machine and its cpu to achieve.

I like the Manycam Chromakey effect just fine. However If I run Manycam and the FME I am using 90%+ of my P4 3.6 GHZ processor. I only have 1 gig ram so maybe that doesn't help. I am needing a second machine more and more lately. I will upgrade eventually but for now the FME working is good enough. I will use "old school visual fx" for live playing.
thanks :>)

What kind of setup are you using for looping? I am looking for something that I can use to loop multiple instruments in live shows to create music like this! I have a digitech JamMan looper for my guitar right now. This is my first post by the way. A friend just introduced me to Ninjam as I am moving to Utah and he wants to continue Jamming (from Michigan). Thanks!

I use a Line 6 Dl 4, a Boss DD 20 and an Electro Harmonix 2880 for looping. The jamman is great if you play set songs and want to have backing tracks but since i do more everchanging improv it wouldn't do it for me. Mostly it's the DD 20 and EH 2880. They have feedback conrol so you can have loops fade as others are played in. This is just my preferences! There are alot of ways to loop. i suggest you go to Loopers Delight and join the mailing list. it's a fantastic resource. Lots of info on the tools of the trade there also. http://www.loopers-delight.com/loop.html. I use a mixer to feed different instruments into the loopers.
People there will really be helpful and supportive. See you there.
peace,
