Default Merge two Mono tracks to one

Hi there.
I have two mono items. I want to create a new mono item which is a mix of the two.
How do I do that?
To elaborate: It should sound like the two items played at once.

Set the levels on each track then select them both. Select File/Render to a mono or stereo file choosing add rendered items to new tracks. Mute or delete original tracks.

Quick way to do this is with 'free item positioning' then 'glue'.
Right click in the TCP of the track where you want to merge the two items..choose 'free item positioning'. Move the two items (from anywhere in the project) into position on that track. Now you can hear both items overlaid. Then select both items...right click...'glue items'. They are rendered into one item.

The 'free item positioning' track does not have to be a new track...just enable it on the track you are working on..but you'll notice that any other items on the track will also become capable of being freely positioned and will change in appearance, but after making your selection and glueing just turn free item positioning off..the track will be back to normal appearance.

For tracks you can also make a folder of them, setting the pan law of the folder to 0db or check "boost pans"
