I like it! Is this an original creation or a tweak of another theme?

thanks everybody

This is an original theme, I started from Paulie but then kept going until there was nothing left.

Phase switch was removed intentionally, you can still invert phase by using the action "Track: Invert track phase" or do it per item by clicking "Invert phase" in the Item properties. Similarly you can adjust Width by right-clicking the volume fader.

Hello Pandabot
I did not understand you were going that route or that far toward less is more (other than removal of tool bar you show above).Lead the way Sir...go large!
I realise you have thought about this.

I like the cyan color and in my case having item coloring definitions, I like how only notes or wave forms get some color, rest black. Looks cool. Minimal and only relevant data getting some color.
Thanks for sharing pandabot. Fitting nicely to the renoiseB theme in hackey trackey. I also like the red cursor, during playback, good taste, looks great.

Yeah I like the sensory deprivation approach so I can better focus my ears on the music, I get too distracted if there are too many colors everywhere. I think the cyan/red fx colors are the last remnants of the Paulie theme that I forgot to change, maybe one day I'll go back in and change even that to light grey/dark grey but seems to fit alright for now. I'm glad you like it 👍

I have to test your copy paste rhythm and gaussian humanization as well, then maybe doing a youtube of those, together with hackey trackeys latest replace mode additions. I am sure you saw this already, very cool feature.

Nice theme! Really digging the simplicity!

I'd like this as a base but with colors (I know, right?!), well grey, from Tronic.

Is there something in the theme that prevents coloring tracks?
Everytime I've tried editing the themes colors (transport bg in Gimp) I end up loosing all the images and even reloading them in the tweaker won't bring them back...

So, would it be possible for anyone else to do this?
Should I be asking this in another thread?

No there's nothing in the theme preventing you from doing that, this theme actually makes it a lot easier to do than most. The problem is that specifying hex colors in the theme tweaker can only get you so far. Lots of different areas in a Reaper theme are specified by images, so you'd need to recolor them in an image editor. Some themes have gradients and shadows so it's difficult to recolor, Dark Terminal is just solid colors so it shouldn't be too bad if you use the paint bucket tool in MS Paint or Aseprite.

If you're losing images then you may not be packaging up the theme correctly, it's been a while but I think you want to do it like this. I have never been able to figure out how to use Gimp, all their weird transparent layers and different image types are confusing so that might also be part of the problem

You can probably do it an hour or two, you just want to do the following things:
  1. rename DarkTerminal.ReaperThemeZip to DarkTerminal.zip
  2. unzip it
  3. edit the images with the new colors
  4. zip it back up
  5. rename it to yourNewThemeName.ReaperThemeZip

If you did end up doing that it would be cool if you posted it as a new theme, someone else might want the same thing

There's something I don't understand...

So I've edited the theme but since the images were missing upon loading, I had to use the "Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window" to bring them back. But now if I try to zip (the theme folder) into ReaperThemeZip and open it in another Reaper, it's missing the images again.

Sorry for cluttering your thread but would love to share the edited theme but how to keep the images in it?

Here's how it looks now (I've yet to edit all the images):

Hey that looks pretty cool so far! Are you zipping up the yourTheme.ReaperTheme file along with the yourTheme images folder like this?

A common mistake is to zip up a parent folder that contains this file and the images folder, these files need to be zipped up together and not contained inside another folder. I think that image folder needs to be named the same thing as the ReaperTheme file as well

I removed all the volume and pan sliders because I never use them anymore, do all volume and panning changes using fx plugins. If you want the old version with the sliders you can download it here: https://github.com/benjohnson2001/Da...ReaperThemeZip

The action "Xenakios/SWS: Reset volume and pan of selected tracks" is also useful if you're converting from an old project

In https://landoleet.org/old/reaper632+...ReaperLangPack I see this:

Code:
[pan]
;^08323C07B4EAEEC9=L
;^3BEB0AE437FA2F12=center
;^08323607B4EAE497=R
You can probably make your own language pack to do this or try to find a British/Australian one to see if it has that

Interesting theme.
Care to elaborate on the PurestGain/BSG usage? Or is it just random to show FX inserts?

It's what I use for gain changes, I removed the track sliders because you often need to adjust the input gain going into different distortion plugins and whatnot so it makes more sense to just always use fx for the gain changes for consistency. I made a pan one too, in the same style as PurestGain. But yeah the image is just to show what the mixer looks like in the theme

I removed all that stuff but you can dl the previous version here right before I did that, everything else is the same. I don't know what dual pan is though, this theme just has the regular pan slider

This is my go-to theme cause I appreciate the simplicity and lack of visual distractions.
I sometimes use Reaper in a 13 inch laptop and I have some visual issues, so I've added a nit of color and made it more clear when something is selected.
I also added some 3Dness to buttons, brought back the tcp meters, and some other minor changes here and there.

First time modding a Reaper theme so most of the time I've no clue what I'm doing

If you're talking about the Fisher-Price-colored buttons maybe you've missed the part about vision problems and using it on a 13 inch screen.
Believe it or not I'm 100% faster on this compared to some of the ultra-beautiful Pro themes.
Some people even believe the default Reaper theme is ugly, but I've been getting back at it as well because of its ergonomics.

Hey, don't take any of what he said personally! His been known to do this in several theme threads. Just tells us more about him than it does on what you've made!

It's great that you have something you can actually work on!

I am sure the theme will be just perfect for other folks... different strokes.

I like Echolot theme a lot. Quite possibly ugly for many other users.
Despite still being "too analogue", it is pleasant to my eyes.
