Default ***Fixed*** "Snap Enabled" isn't working in Main window

I don't believe I'd accidentally made any changes, but "snap" isn't working properly, in the Mani window.
In the MIDI editor, it's fine.

I searched the "Preferences" but saw no way to correct this.

Thoughts?

Keith,

When you say it isn't working properly do you mean it isn't working at all, or is it working in some weird malfunctioning way? If the latter can you give an example or two of what's going on?

Thanks!

Okay...
If I have "snap enabled" on, and I try to click on the 1st beat of the 2nd measure...I cannot do that with any precision.
Same thing with editing a track: the cursor doesn't snap to the precise point it is intended to snap to.

All this happens with the "Snap Enabled" button is on.

I created 8 bars of MIDI, but I only want the first 4 bars...but I cannot be sure it's cut the correct length, unless I zoom in a LOT.

"Snap enabled" works fine in the MIDI editor, however.

I hope that helps.

So snap is happening, just not finding the precise spot?

My first thought would be to check your snap settings, there might be an issue there. In particular, it might (or might not ) help in this case to enable use same grid division for arrange view and MIDI editor.

The measures are in 8ths, same as is the MIDI editor.
Still, with "Snap Enabled", I can easily place off of the grid line...and that isn't supposed to happen.

I've attached an image showing snap is not "snapping".

Peace,
K8ch

Do a portable install (not in your regular directory) and see if it still happens. If all is ok, right-click on the arrange view snap button and compare the checkboxes to your regular settings - or doing this may show the problem anyway.

If a portable install doesn't snap as expected, do report back.

Do you have cursor snap enabled?

Right click snap icon or Alt+L to open snap/grid settings.

Good idea...but those setting are checked in my preferences, too.

I tried the Portable Install...but the problem persists: no "snap"

To me it just looks like you have gridlines turned off, which will disable any snapping to them...

Ahhh.. ok.

How to fix it??

I typed "grid" in the Preferences search box and looked at all the "grid-related" tweaks...but didn't see a solution.
What did I miss?

Press the grid button on the toolbar, next to the snap button.

[edit] if you have customized the toolbar so the grid button is no longer there, run the action "Options: Toggle grid lines", which is mapped to alt+G by default.

Yep...that did the trick.
Aww man... I feel stupid for not having figured that out by myself.
Ugh...
