Default “float” MCP track layout elements beyond borders?

I’ve been working on a v5 theme & project template combo that uses a lot of foldering. I wanna get into v6, but having only 3 [default] script-accessible layouts and no fader color capabilities has been holding me back.

Based off Commala 5 2016:
https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/1912/D...ReaperThemeZip

I want to make the folder toggle button appear “on” another track’s panel, it’s parent. I have tried positioning it myself, it won’t go horizontally* beyond the defined track size borders. However, it can go vertical as far as you want.

I’m just learning WALTER, and hope that v6 eventually has more track layouts & fader colors. Thank you!

That is correct. You can only position track elements within its defined area. Certainly at the moment.

I can make a demo video showing that it can go above or below it, like well into the Arrange area. Just not across into other track panels. Can’t tell if feature or bug…but it’s exciting nonetheless!

No need for the demo video, thanks

There is no way, as far as I am aware, of having a track panel element in the MCP showing in an adjacent panel.

The only person who can answer this question for certain is White Tie so all you can do is hope that he decides your question is worthy of his time. He is a very busy man, as you can probably tell.

Can I ask, why do you want to place some elements outside the horizontal boundary of a Mixer Control Panel.

A graphic mock up may help to show what you are trying to achieve and why.

cheers

Please do, because unless I've misunderstood then you've figured out a way to do something that cannot be done, which would be exciting.

While I am grateful for your confidence, alas I have to figure stuff out the same as everyone else, so while its fair to say I have more experience doing this than anyone else, there is no certainty. Theming stuff surprises me all the time.

Update: bright ideas had after actually reading your WALTER guide. Thank you both for your guidance so far.

I will forgo some functions on the Child track layouts, however still with indications if they do happen to get triggered, and leave the Parent layouts fully featured. Some other tricks came to mind as well, I truly enjoyed the guide. Not quite sure where the haters get off.

Getting track elements outside the boundaries has been impossible to recreate since that day. I am usually maniacal with versioning my progress, alas this is one that got away. Nothing comes to mind as for a good use of such behavior anyways, besides perhaps decorating the top of the mixer panel with some ornamental graphics or glow. Stuff we already have at home.
