Default Reaper freezing during recording

Hi all,

using the latest release on Windows 10 w/ Avid/M-Audio Fasttrack Ultra 8R.

Up until recently, everything has worked flawlessly. Was able to track 8 drum tracks without a single hiccup.

Now that my project has a bunch of tracks in it, when i attempt to record (just two separate inputs), Reaper freezes up during tracking. Generally it will last a few seconds and pick right up where it left off, but obviously this does not lead to happy tracking.

I've played with all sorts of buffer settings in my interface, bypassed all VST stuff (but even when running, the performance monitoring doesn't show anything concerning), but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

It's certainly a possibility, as i'm only working with one drive.

Are there specific numbers I should be looking for in the the performance meter that would tell me?

Thanks again!

So, did a trial run w/ the performance meter open.

Disk Read was 1.23MB/s
Disk Write was 280KB/s

It froze up a couple of times throughout a few tests, but not every time.
