If it had strings on it, that boy could play it like a sumbitch. Now he and Buck are a-pickin' and a-grinnin' in that big ol' cornfield in the sky.
Sa-a-a-LUTE!

Sad news ... an extremely versatile guitarist and artist generally.

One of the greats. Fond memories of watching Roy in the 70's.

I actually missed his heyday but have been blown away by the stuff I saw him doing live in his latter years & of course all those clips on youtube.
Must be getting crowded "up there"
Sorry to see him go.

Roy is one of the reasons
Roy Clark is one of the main reasons I terrorized my parents into buying me a brand new Telecaster for my 13th Birthday in 1970. One of the best things I could ever see/hear was Roy picking the shit out of one of those. I had to know what that was like. For me, he was in the company of Glenn Cambell and Roy Buchannon.
Thanks for the inspiration Roy.
And damn, do I wish I didn't trade away that Telecaster. I'm sixty-one now and in terms of sheer opulence in tone, its been all downhill since then.
Add my 1968 Twin reverb into that mix. Miss that little fricker too!
Peace to you Roy.
