v15 released.
- Added the dots, as above.
- Added the theme to ReaPack, so it can be updated automatically if and when there's another release.

Doesn't look as cool as the shitty mock-up
To be honest, I would see this as a regression. It's a shame that you can't center them... maybe in REAPER 6 it will be possible. Oh no wait, then we will have to tweak a whole new theme, haha!

Strange. I just double-checked and the download link has the correct file.
What TCP layout are you using?

Yeah, I imagine Nitpicky 6.0 will most likely be a thing.
With any luck they'll add something to let themes offer more options rather than needing full layouts, so something like these dots could just be an easy toggle. As is, offering with-dots and without-dots layouts would mean copy/pasting a lot of code and/or images.

Turns out the Stash has a 2mb limit, which I'm now over, so it just reverts to the old version without telling me. Will update when I find a new hosting site.
Edit: Using my Dropbox for the time being. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqkb6kv8qo...rThemeZip?dl=1
Edit the second: Updated the URL in ReaPack, hopefully works now.

Love this theme but the waveforms get really thin and glitched out on some zoom levels and even disappears when zoomed in really far. Can anyone confirm this or is it just me? Is there any way to fix this? Fixed! I disabled "Draw edges on peaks" and "Draw edges on waveforms" in preferences. I should read the thread next time.

How does one go about inserting track separators?

Take any ol' track and change it to one of the Separator layouts (bottom of the list). It's usually a good idea to mute it and lock it, since it's a normal track and you don't want your editing stuff to do anything with it. I have a preset saved so I can just drag it from Resources and not have to worry about anything.

Ok, here is a potentially incredibly stupid question/suggestion.
(I know next to nothing about themes, please be gentle.)
I'm not using this theme (yet) but I really like the idea of these separators. However, the implementation as an "invisible track" makes me a bit nervous. (Not sure how they would play with my control surface, for instance)
Now, since I would use separators mostly on the left of group folders or busses, would it be possible to make a mcp layout that has a transparent stripe running down on the left hand side?
And, analogous to this, a tcp layout that had a transparent stripe horizontally on the top?
So, if one would use this layout for their buss/group tracks, it would come with it's own separator.
(Am I explaining this well?)
Thanks for reading!
P.s. at the moment I'm using a theme that has a lot of different mcp/tcp layouts. And by choosing very tall faders in the mcp, I can have a similar visual separating effect. But a clean, transparent gap would be even better readable)

It's theoretically possible, but would require some hefty work to fit into this theme. I had the same thought originally and tried for a bit, but it effectively requires rewriting the entire "base" layout to accommodate the gap.
Too much work for me.
If someone else put one together, I'd be happy to include it, but the separators I've added work amazingly well for me.
As far as your control surface, yeah, they would probably cause some trouble. Depending on how, exactly, it communicates with Reaper (I don't have one to play with), a script might be able to give it a different bank of tracks to work with that omits the separators.

Fair enough. Thank you for the reply.
With the control surface - I switch it on and it kind of, sort of does the job. I'm sure, like with everything in Reaper, I could get it to work, but haven't got the time to look into it properly. So many loose ends, so little time.

I dont know if it is some tweaking needed or something I messed up in options, but when I select a media item, the peaks get less clear and visible to me, take this example:
EDIT: I found something relevant. The Nitpicky allows to check the "Draw edges on peaks", making the peaks thicker. But when I select the item, it's like the checkbox goes unchecked.
Nitpicky:

How to get Nitpicky similar to the Default?

I believe you want to fiddle with "Media item peaks edge highlight when selected" in the Theme Tweaker.

I'll just uncheck "Draw edges on peaks" in Options, much easier and less problematic and it will work like I want.

Hi Lokasenna!
I really like everything you do with Reaper, awsome job!
For this nice theme:
Would it be possible to make the "Clickable icon on folder tracks to show/hide children" from the mixer actually clickable when in strip/strip full ctrl/strip name/strip meter ? Or maybe you could tell me what i'm doing wrong: i cannot click this thing, the track number is in the way! But i can with the ones you added, which is nice.
Thank you!

Can we do something about the "Small Full Meter" tcp layout?
The names are cutoff and that input meter box is weird and annoying.

Should the big Input box just go away, since it's already over there on the track panel?

Box seems unnecessary, but maybe a small red mark to indicate recording status?

Does anyone know how to get rid of the highlighted look that the text has on the track name? The default theme doesn't have this and I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of it. Thanks.

This is a great theme, I actually like the default theme but there were some things that bothered me, this addresses most, thank you. I especially like the fact I can change the meter colors easily, love that feature.
Is it possible to request an FX rack MCP track layout? With no long fader, just the FX rack (like a sidebar but without the fader). And, a narrow VCA layout with just the fader and no meter or controls? Just thought I'd ask, that would literally make this theme perfect for me.
Cheers,
Dave

Background label colours are incorrect
I've just discovered this theme and I love it, the changes are perfect.
But one thing that is really bugging me... the track label background colours are not right?
For example: I select orange, it appears as brown. All the pinks show as purple. And Yellow shows as a mucky pond green.
If I use the option to tint the panel backgrounds... those DO show up the correct colour.
But one thing I liked about this theme was being able to change just the label colour.
Any particular reason for this? If it's something to do with text visibility then surely there must be a better solution? Maybe even text borders or something?
Sorry if this has already been addressed here.
Cheers

As far as I'm aware that's a Reaper issue. The color you specify is blended with the label's background image ( mcp_namebg.png for the mixer) and there's no way to change the blending mode.

you can play with background color of the label (second four label parameters (rgba)), setting them to user colour.
unfortunately it seems that blending of this color with panel colour uses different blending method comparing to using alfa channels of images. But finding some compromise is possible

Hi Lokasenna,
I love your mod of this original 5.0 theme, and I know many others do to. I've tried a bunch of themes and I always end up back here - it provides the best compromise of UI cleanliness and functionality IMO.
If you would consider modding the 6.0 default to be as close as possible to the 5.0 default nitpicky theme, then I know there would be at least a few of us here happy to donate to make that happen.
Then we could have the best of both worlds, the original theme we know and love, but also the new 6.0 theme adjuster script, which does provide some very cool new functions. I don't know how this would work with the original layouts from nitpicky because those are what I'm really missing, but I'm hoping the WALTER side of it is not too insanely complex.
If it is... then I guess I'm sticking with good old default nitpicky, and I'll live without the extra theme adjuster options.
Also, do you know if it's possible to copy all the settings that are editable within the normal theme tweaker (colours fonts etc) from one theme to another, without affecting anything else from the new theme?

I like the darkness of v6, but I too am still not convinced by some of the changes.
I just went to the original theme tweaker (via action list) and reloaded the images from 5.0 Nitpicky. The only issue is that the new Theme adjuster is obviously not available anymore.

For me, the standout flaws are:
Horrible contrast throughout the theme (toolbars, panels, everything)
Stretched out transport is horrendous
Rainbow colored track names needs to go back to normal light gray white etc
Remove the full track color tint and only have the classic endcap color only
That will at least give us a usable v6 theme IMO. The nitpicky will save us one day, I have faith. But as the old saying goes, take my money!!! Name your price.
