Default anyone up for this collab ??

anyone up for a laugh//fun ??
ive always wanted to have a go at doing jumpin jack flash.
a very infectious song imho.
call it a moment of madness...lol..but could be fun.
i'm testing out my vocs now.

anybody willing to do pounding live drums , really precise like charlie watts.??
or pounding rhythm geetar ?? or bass ??
really pounding along ??
(man charlie is good.so solid. )
mebe back up vocs..any ladies around ??
i'm talkin a full throated BALLS TO THE WALL version.
key will be the guitar sounds sounding great of course.
(my recording pardner is tied up right now..very nice bloke...
but he is very busy.)

if anyones up for it for fun, tell me,
if anyone could do the guide backing trak, ..n send it to me ...
bass, drums, rhythm guitar n i'll add me vocals.
then we could flesh it out from there.

when i saw the song done on the shining light tour it seemed like keith used a capo on the electric.. key of B ??
chords like B, D, E, etc used ??

could be a gas doing this song.

heres a ultra rough version i did for giggles today in 2 hrs.

https://stash.reaper.fm/oldsb/488836/flashv1.mp3

just guide skeleton traks really ...
the whole thing needs to be re-done PROPERLY OF COURSE.
with lotsa people collabing as i said at begin of post.
with lots of people contributing their talents.
i cant do it alone.
was just me mucking about having lotsa fun.

anyone interested contact moi.
god bless.

hardplay.
thats fantastic mate.
we have a drummer. HOORAY!!.
the downloads for you are in my first two posts.
first one is a ruff overall arrangement...
n second bare minimum.
so prolly the second one is more appropo ??
for you to lay drums down ??
cos it includes the count off before the guitar starts.
or is there anything else you need ??
if so mate just tell me.
ted pm'd me to say he can do some guitar work.

shemp.
cheers. shame your busy.

dont wanna rush it anyway.
so you might have some time mebe.
mebe youll hear final result n go how bout this idea , sorta thing.

now we need a frickin bass player n some back up chiks..lol.
i'm not averse either to some keyboard piano or synth.
whatever makes it go better.
ya know what might be neat is in my talky bit in the middle mebe a soft tinkly piano in the background ??
all good fun.
thanks for responding.

Here's a quick mix with my guitar on it, there are actually three guitars on it (can't resist that sort of thing), now I need to know what I should do with them. anyhoo have a listen.

Then I guess we need a bass, and maybe some maracas and tambourine and all that.

shemp.
yeh i crank it..
the beginning of song now just blows me away.
straight in...bam..lol. gonna be good.

now i realise with the backing now i gotta get those jjflash vocal repeats
starting at 2m45secs more accurate n spot on.
will redo em to be more precise. once backings/arrangements finalised. n try other vocal aspects.
twould be nice to have chik back up singers on those ending voc repeats.
i hear high vocs on em at that point.

need an honest opinion on sumpin arrangement wise shemp.
in the talky part in middle of song..
ie...the section..1m58 secs to 2m21secs..
my original idea was at this point the whole shebang
(for reasons of song dynamics) comes down from balls to the wall..
down soft with just likkle twinkles behind the talky.
then after 2m21secs back up to balls to the wall.
i thought it might make it different.
thoughts/opinions ?? am i wrong ??

nightscope
i listened to the video you linked to.
its a faster tempo.
do you feel the tempo should be faster on this effort ??
i tried a faster tempo originally mate,
but the problem is it constricts the guitar aspects
i found. so chose not as fast a tempo to hopefully let all
the guitar licks like teds come through.
any opinions welcome mate.
OR..was it you just wanted lotsa chiks ?? ..lol.

ps..beddy byes time here.
will talk to you fine chaps tomorrow.

No need to redo them Manning, just split and move em - that's what Daws are good at - among other things.

he he - you got a way cool version

Couple of years ago I also covered that tune. I made a more acoustic version... in Cubase still, though...

Since nobody offered to do bass I had a go, but I think it's not great, so any bass player think they can do better lets' see what you got

http://shup.com/Shup/145805/JJFlash2.mp3

Manning also ordered me to change the guitars a bit - actually I hadn't quite finished so here is the latest updated version - hope you like it Manning.

Anyway where's the cowbell?

Here yer go Manning - one mix with your vocals on and a new bass line.

Automation on the guitars

Very basic drum track (courtesy of AD) for guide purposes

Also an FX chain on the master

While i'm writing i'm upping all 8 drum tracks, i've finished recording just one hour ago,i was on my own and had to go back and forth for volumes etc.

btw kit is tuned for reggae, that's what we are recording now,so i added a mic to the bottom of the snare (actually used tom 3 mic).

as soon as it's ready (RAR 166mb)i will give you the link for the download.

EDIT - upload is slow

Oh I thought you would do a drum mix to a stereo track, now I realise you can't mix them as you don't have a separate guide without drums - so I guess you can't mix them. Do you want a mix without drums so you could do that or anything else?

Complicated aint it?

Could you send me your link anyway please.

Yeah it would have been better if i had had the track with a seperate click or drum, that way i could have sent you just a stereo file.

Well at least you can mess about with the seperate tracks of the kit !

ted/hardplay.
i got a prob..i'm on a budget dsl speed.
(retired bloke..lol.)
would take me ages to dload 166mb.
also here sometimes one gets interruptions with dloads possibly.
plus my isp would go bonkers.
i dont have the dload speed either.

but heres the link hardplay sent me ted.

http://www.decarider.com/shashemene/...jack_flash.rar

hardplay ..is there any way you could send a stereo mix ??
that way either ted or i can just line it up with the trak
via shifting/aligning in reaper.
or mebe teds suggestion ?? he send you a mix minus the drums ??

prolly my fault i should have included a clik trak.
what you might do hardplay is in one file i uploaded, the base one..
drum clik starts before the song, or use teds n just paste it to front
of your stereo drums for lead in ?? so we can align ??
i'm sure actually i can align it anyways.
just tell me the time the first drum beat hits on.
ie..place reape cursor at first of your beats sorta idea.

Ok,i've mixed the tracks to stereo and added some gates, comps and reverb etc.,but beware i did it with headphones at home,it's late and i can't use monitors so i don't know if it sounds crap or good, just let me know.

I have left the lead-in for you to sync, just trim it away after.

nice tight trak mate. kudos.
i love the fact you got that tick tick tick on the HH,
going just like charlie mate.
ie...it keeps the motion of the song going.
n the energy.

oh i forgot, i love the way you lay back
in the talky quiete section.
some drummers dont know how to do that.
excellent balance mate.

n after 2min51 secs to coda , ie the outtro.
love your work in that section.
oh momma yes on that snare work at the end.
reminds me of a well known drummer.

Yeah I was thinking of doing a bit more to it, tambourine in places, some congas on the talking bit, some automation for some light and shade. I am a bit occupied for a couple of days though, so it might have to wait. Let's see how it goes.

Reaper radio - I don't think covers are allowed though - boo!

That is what I edited out in my previous post. I'd looove to hear it on Reaper.fm from time to time, but I am not sure if it's maybe against the rule about copyright ownership.

Anybody here who knows for sure?

Ted..re doing more.
take yer time if needed.
cos just as a note, i'm gonna be with my wife at the hospital next couple of days. she is haveing an important op.
so you might not hear much of me for obvious reasons.
re copywrite. hmm i would like to know that.
people do covers all the time for fun.
it was my understanding that if one did something for fun,
then it was ok. if it were sold of course then of course the
copywrite holders had to be properly compensated.
can anyone shed light on this further ??
