This. As far as know there is no in depth technical explanation of core buffering settings in Reaper, at least not an updated one.

I was not, but it's probably the finest explanation I've seen. Thanks

It reminded me to switch back to my ASIO driver, it kills me how much faster it is (better real-time performance I suppose)... but I digress.

well the question is like this:

OK, you increase the buffer size... let's say you double it from the default and get better RT...

there is another setting in the same place, for the number of buffers...default is 3... should that increase as well?
