Default [experimental rock] "without remorse"

Hi guys!

Imagine, one day you see many spaceships in the sky: The
extraterrestrials have visited us humans! What will they think
about us humans? What are they going to do? We addressed
this in a somewhat bizarre song:

Direct link: without remorse

Website with animation: "without remorse" Note: This
requires clicking the grey "play"-button.

Feel free to tell us what comes to your mind spontaneously, what
you think of the song and maybe what you would do differently.

Enjoy!

PS: You can find a lot more background information about
the aliens on the website: Why did they visit the earth? What do
they want here? Etc. ...

I enjoyed this. Maybe it's just the sci fi theme, but the song reminds me of Hawkwind.

I once read a sci-fi short story (I can't remember the title or author) where aliens visit earth and cure all the ills an right all the wrongs of the human world. The aliens invite the humans to travel with them to an even better world. The humans are not sure, but they find an alien book and try to translate it. They get as far as translating the title, which is "How to Serve Man". Thinking his proves the sincerity of the aliens, many humans decide to take up the offer, but as they are boarding the space ship, the translator runs though the crowd yelling "It's a cook book!".

Edit: The story was by Damon Knight and tiltled "To Serve Man". My memory of the details of the story is probably a little hazy.

Theres a lot of cool tines and playing. Especially that last solo. U got a lot if creativity getting the sounds you do and coming up with something like this. im too stuck in convention to even begin to do something like that. But I like seeing how people push the boundaries. well, hearing. lol.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the song! The comparison to the
legendary Hawkwind is very flattering indeed - I still enjoy
listening to "Silvermachine" - Thanks!

Haha, lol - that fits here like the nail on the head - the pointed turn
upon entering the spaceship is unmatched in surprise! A really fantastic
story you remembered from Damon Knight. I didn't know this story myself -
I am very impressed!

The extraterrestrials certainly did not come to earth without a specific
intention, and we all know that good protein is scarce! BTW you can find
the referenced short story here (pdf).

Thank you, Time Waster!

Oh, thank you for your kind words about my creativity.

"Without Remorse" somewhat pushes the boundaries of what I
would call a song, even for my own understanding. However, it is
the underlying story, the thought behind it, that led me to this more
experimentally challenging arrangement.

This story is a good intro for our song "without remorse":

Susanna carefully packs the chocolate beetles into her bag.
This time she prevailed against her mother. Already at the
last visit to the supermarket she insisted on getting these
chocolate beetles.

"Susanna, if we go out now, please make sure that there is
a bike path
"! Five-year-old Susanna almost collided with
one of these bike bullies the last time.

Susanna and her mother Helen leave the supermarket with
their bags full. Something is wrong here: the people outside
are looking up at the sky in surprise. It's a sunny day -
just like the weather forecast predicted, and not a single
cloud can be seen in the deep blue sky. When Helen looks up,
she sees what apparently amazes everyone ... read more here.

Default Brilliant

Unexpectedly, I very much enjoyed this song and the animation. Listened to the whole song, which is rare for me. I've downloaded the story and will read later, thanks. Fixer

Hey- yep interesting vocal effect here seems to fit piece nicely.
Care to share the technique,or?
Not my usual listen but was worth it anyway + would not change a thing if you was happy with results.
Thanks4sharing!

Really like the atmosphere created by reverb and synth pads. Drums can be a little busy at times, calling too much attention to their artificial nature. Guitar tone was cool and I can't believe I'm saying this but the solo could have gone longer.

Middle section feels somewhat repetitive and maybe could have gone back to the bookends theme or a wild bridge section somewhere to spice things up.

I like it.

Thank you Reapology!

The deep vocal effects are just a good pitch shifter, e.g.
the Nix-Shifta. This has the advantage that several EQ
bands are included. The EQ-ing is actually the most
important thing - at least here on "Without Remorse".

In fact: many ideas and imaginations flowed into this song and
the story around the song. I am particularly pleased to see
that recognized. Thank you, fixerdave!

Thank you for your praise. And unfortunately no, a Spotify
presentation is not planned for the time being.
