SUMMARY:
After formatting Windows, I have constantly low memory problems which let Reaper crash.
-I load a project
- mixing and recording around for about 20 minutes
- ALWAYS encountering one of these problems:
a) Reaper first gets slower (freezing for about 3-5 seconds per action), then it locks up with no error messages (simply no answer and have to force it to close )
b) I get a low memory warning from Windows "your computer is low on memory please close Reaper", which let me close Reaper in a more gentle way. Otherwise, system crashes and I have a blue screen (a kind of MotherBoard message), then system automatically reboots.
note: I have no specific error messages and I am not doing a particular action when crashes happen.
HARDWARE and SOFTWARE
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit; intel core i5-330 CPU 3.0 GHZ; 16 GB RAM; MB -ASRock Mod 1155 Z77 Extreme4 ATX; Separate Audio Interface (ZOOM R24)
Reaper 4.76 x64
WHAT I ALREADY DID:
- memtest to check RAM errors (0 errors)
- portable installation in a different folder, same behaviour
- Performance Meter in order to monitor crashes (average values before crash: CPU USAGE: 40%; ram usage: 12 GB on 16 GB ; FX CPU usage: 40%)
- running plugins as dedicated or separate process (no improvement)
- loading projects without "heavy" plugins (like Addictive Drums 2 or Guitar Rig 5)
here the results

I have better performance but it always ends with crashes.
USEFUL DETAILS:
Problems started after windows format and hardware upgrade. I changed HD (from Western Digital 1TB SATA3 64MB Green Mind to Samsung SSD 840 evo) and motherboard (from Asus P8Z77-V LX 2 Socket 1155 - Chipset Z77 - ATX to ASRock Mod 1155 Z77 Extreme4 ATX) because PC wasn't booting anymore. Then formatted and reinstalled.
Crashes occur more frequently with bigger projects, for sure. But I have NEVER had any kind of problems with any projects before, which is why I reinstalled the operating system EXACTLY as it was before , using the same versions of plugins and vsts.
