Default Sending Audio to other track for sidechaining

Hello everybody,

I've been trying to get some sidechaining running. Oddly, I've been following the countless tutorials for that, but can't make it happen.

I am sending the audio 1/2 of channel A to 3/4 of channel B. The VU meter of channel B tries to display incoming signal but gets none.

Really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Could be a loop thing.

Does track B send something back to track A? Even if B receives audio from A, and sends MIDI to A, this is regarded as a koop by Reaper. This is by default turned off. For good reasons. If you turn it on, be sure to know what you are doing.

The routing section of channel A does not indicate any returning signal.

Although, that doesn't necessarily help, I'll be looking into what a "koop" is. Thanks for that!

Do you have something panned to one side or the other?
The (minimum of two) track channel business means that if you pan a source to one side, a post fader send from that track only has the audio in that one side.

He serr,

No, nothing is panned, neither the channel, nor the send signal. Also, it should still be receiving something, as I am sending a stereo signal to a stereo receiver.

Sorry, I meant "loop" of course (as in the first sentence)

But post a project file we can have a look at it. Doesn't have to have any audio, just the routing set up as you expect it to work.

Hah, you got me there! :P

Anyways, I found the solution to my problem:

It seemed that a plugin that I put before the sidechain compressor didn't pass on the signal on 3/4. The VU meter seems to be post FX, which is why I was not seeing anything. Odd!

Anyways, thanks for your help guys.
