This is dumb but...
There should be a way to hide the "tabs" in the docker. Like when the "compact when small and single tab" option is activated but all the time. It's dumb, I know, but I just can't dock the mixer to the bottom of the screen if there is a gray line serving no purpose taking up valious pixels. It gets too bulky and the scrollbar is too high, it's just weird. The tabs in the dock could be navigated by keystrokes. I'd be great to have that.

In 2005 yes.
January 2018 1280x800 usage: 3% and falling.
That being said, my 2-27" 1920x1080 monitors seem plenty big enough.

where did you get that number? for live i'd say very few people have external monitors. Also if works at 1280 x 800 i'd say it will work in any bigger screen ..

W3 Schools site since it tracks closer to the present day. The closest is 1366x768 (35%) but we are in tablet/laptop territory there which gives up real estate in support of portability, Apps on those devices will have the same restriction.
IOW, I think Reaper is useable at that size (it's how I tracked my latest project) but it will never be able to compete with larger resolutions because size does matter in this case. Maybe they could shave a proverbial mm or two.

i did a search - most used resolutions:
https://www.rapidtables.com/web/dev/...tatistics.html
with this values:
1920x1080 9.4%
1280x800 8.5%
by the stats there is almost equal number for each of them, and both non tablets use.
1366x768 19.1% (14'' Notebook / 15.6'' Laptop / 18.5'' monitor)
And this numbers refer to domestic use. Live usage is totally different i would guess, and so in my modest opinion 1280 is the perfect reference. if works well in 1280 will work well bigger! but who am i . In fact i love reaper even at 1280 ! i can't complain

Usage statistics of rapidtables.com on 2/2014.
However, 1366x is really the standard you might want to chase because it is 35% in 2018 due to all the tablets and similar devices.
