Heard about this a couple of years back but still haven't got round to trying it.
I'm going to install now and test it out. I will most likely be lost though, as I've never used a tracker before. Is there any tutorials about that would be handy? Even if it's not for this exact tracker but the workflow is similar it could help me wrap my head around the unorthodox workflow of a tracker. Anyway thanks for your continued efforts on this. |

If you want a more tracker-ish experience, make sure you load the sample playback JSFX on the track where you are tracking. Maybe someone else has a good suggestion. |

Hi Sai'ke,
Hackey Trackey works great for me. The only problem I am having is with the harmonizer. CTRL + Click does not inserting chords to the pattern. Sometimes it does, but only once and will stop doing it again after one chord is inserted. I checked to make sure track record is armed. Any other ideas? Edit: I can get it to insert chords, but have to click the MIDI item in the transport each time I insert one, as if it loses focus. Last edited by maitaketaki; 02-05-2024 at 07:10 AM. |

For those using the companion sampler module, I added an auto-split feature. There's three different algorithms there. Depending on the material you have one might work better than the other. I may add more advanced algos (these are pretty simple) in the future, but for now it serves at least my needs. |

Hello!
I am trying to understand live-recording into hackey trackey and am so far a little confused. When my track midi channel is set to all channels my keyboard inputs multiple notes and glitches out a bit. When i set it to midi channel 1 input seems to work well but not live-recording. When i click Rec at the bottom it switches my track midi setting to all channels again. I am using the track from global midi setting. Any help to get live-recording to work right would be appreciated. Thank you for HT! |

Hello Saike, I might have asked this before, but is there any way to obey or incorporate swing? Or is it supported and I haven't found it? Thank you for still working on this great tracker

For swing I use "Grooves" of Reaper itself. When applied to an item, the notes placement in hackey trackey will update into multiple columns. Very flexible, you can transpose, shift separated columns if you want. Better than having all in same columns where you would not have those quick experimenting options.

What, no posts since my last post? Time to change it.
Today it occured to me hackey trackey would love another novelty harmonization feature. Assumption is you are editing non-drums in current item, thus melody, chords or bass. Example: melody, using midi ch1 bass, using midi ch2 chords, using midi ch3 All in same item / pattern. Now holding any chord ( 2-5 notes for example ) would remap all pattern notes to this chord notes, keeping their octaves. Releasing the chord notes would return back to its previous original state. That's it. Simple but powerful reharmonization feature hackey trackey would get for lots of real-time chords fun. This feature would make each item not only a single pattern, but a pattern template for any chord combinations. There are other tricks similar results can be achieved (Midi Vocoder, lua-protoplug) but having a trackey solution could have its own benefits and fun. Without needing to setup anything else. Hold your notes, there you go. |

Hi, I've been trying Hackey Trackey to see if it could do basic tracking that I do in Renoise. So far it's great.
Is there any way that I can use Reaper's global keyboard shortcuts while I'm on HT window (or dock)? I'd like to switch between HT and the native MIDI editor quickly. Currently I seem to need to click other areas outside of HT window to get the native key bindings to work. |
