Default Preventing tracks from showing in mixer view only?

In my mixer view, I only want to see a few specific channels. It's mainly bus tracks, about 6 of them. But I find this difficult to do and deal with.

In the mixer view options, you can select things so the mixer shows:
- Folder tracks
- Tracks which are not child tracks
- Tracks which are child tracks
- Tracks which have audio receives
- The master track is the only track which has a specific on/off visibility.

This isn't very helpful, and my main problem is: Every time I create a new track, it shows up in the mixer. I don't want to see it there.
Best solution so far, is to use the SWS Tracklist, and deselect all undesired tracks from MCP view. But I have to do that every time I create a new track. Not fun at all.

Can there be a better way, of maintaining only a few specific tracks in the mixer view, and not any other tracks at all - even new ones? I'm having trouble thinking of one ..

Thx for any thoughts
/C

Take a look at the Track Manager. There you can enable/disable TCP and/or MCP visibility of your tracks.

I am not sure if you can set it somewhere else that newly created tracks should not show up in the MCP.

Dangit somehow I misunderstood your post this morning I guess. Maybe the Trackmanager and the SWS Track thingy are the same. Nontheless your problem with new tracks appearing in the MCP is not solved with this. So I apologize for not giving you the correct answer.

But maybe you can build yourself a custom action, something like: 1. Insert Track 2. Disable MCP View for selected Track.

This should work the way you imagine.

The Reaper Blog beginner Mixing Course Part 1 showed something like that in the 2nd tutorial - Organisation.

http://reaperblog.net/course/beginne...course-part-1/

You probably need to watch it all, but it is the very end that i think you want.

Custom action ? (to hide new track in mixer automatically)

Track: Insert new track
Track: toggle tracks visible (hide) in Mixer

edit:
Only checked quickly, doesn't seem to work in all cases, e.g. when a track is selected already before inserting.

Maybe combine with
Track: Unselect all tracks (if that fits)

Use a save track selection and restore track selection at the beginning and end will make it more consistent...

Select those tracks I want to show in MCP, Save track selection, Insert tracks, Restore track selection, open track manager, hide all but selected tracks in MCP?
