Default Quantizing does not work

I'm not a complete noob, and I'm fairly savvy with tech/music but so help me I can't figure out if this is something broken in my Reaper or there's some strange little setting that no one's telling me about.

When I try to quantize (let's say Midi tracks, trying to align to grid), absolutely NOTHING I do in the quantize dialog ends up working. The notes never move.

I've followed numerous guides from Kenny's to you name it. I follow to the letter, and nothing happens. It just does. not. work.

Is there perhaps a limit/control that precedes these commands that is disabling the function? It's all I have at this point.

BTW, using 6.3, but this behavior goes back to 5.x for me.

select some notes
press "Q"
adjust to taste
hit "OK"

pretty simple, works fine here.

I don't mean to be a jerk here, but I was implicitly clear that NO amount of adjustment moves the notes. None. Not what you suggested, not what Kenny's tutorials (or anyone else's) has any discernable effect on the placement of the notes.

I'm not asking if yours works, I assume most everyone's does. I'm asking if there's some sort of issue with this, that's abnormal or a setting or over-ride that prevents it from working.

Swingset, what resolution are you quantizing to? 1/16? 1/32?......1/128?

Take your pick. Tried them all. None work.

I can ensure you that the quantize tool work. So you are doing something wrong, please record a small screen cap with licecap https://www.cockos.com/licecap/
and put here. So it will be easier yo help you.

Makes no diff either way.

And, to the previous poster, I assure you my playing is very very far from perfect. I'd settle for "in the ballpark" sometimes, lol.

Hi swingset.

Make sure that the Grid Box, at the bottom left of the editor, is not on a too high value.

If you play bars, you want to scale it to 1, 1/2 for half measures and so on.

In my case, I want it at 1/64 to draw some precise CC, and I have to put it at 1/4, 1/8, to quantize, depending of what I'm playing.

Bye
