Default Chose du matin

Hi there.

A bit difficult to start this year. Only two pieces in 20 days.

Something cool there...

Hello there Thierry

Best wishes for 2020 to you too.

How are you getting on with the BBC SO library?

I have just finished listening to Résolution Free and Chose du matin.

Very nice and laid back pieces. I am assuming that you are using your older Solo Strings for these two? Or does the BBC SO have similar solo instruments?

cheers,

andy

Hi Andy.

Many thanx for your comments. I hope you'll like the next one above. And, yes my good old Solo Strings, still.

I could be a bit longer in PM, but I can say that buying the BBC was a mistake, for many reasons.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that Thierry.

It is always a risk, I feel, spending so much cash on one library like that.

In the end I didn't bother with the BBC library. I felt I wasn't really getting into the classical instruments. Mainly down to my lack of skill and understanding of the classic side of things.

I ended up getting two separate libraries instead, Albion V Tundra, which has some nice and strange elements to it, and Eric Whitacre Choir, which has been really nice to use and my latest album, which I posted here but is slowly sinking to page two, is all Tundra and EWC, with my usual effects.

But, despite being inspired to create a whole album with those libraries, in my hands they are still quite limited and I doubt if I will use them again for a while.

I've just tried to listen to Robin on hearthis and the song wouldn't load. I tried your other songs listed in this post as well and they wouldn't load either, so there must be a problem with hearthis at the moment. I will try again later.

cheers

andy

Hi Andy.

Yes, big, big mistake. Maybe it's just not for me or I'm not for it, but something is wrong with this library. As I say, I can give you more details but it would be too long for here.
I've heard what you've done with those two libraries you've bought on your album. Very good job. Bravo.

And yes, Hearthis is a piece of s..t too. Works when it wants to. (not sure that's very good English )

I have a Bandcamp account too but not that familiar with it. Maybe I should change but for me, despite my slow connection, Hearthis works quite good. You and Mick (Prom) seems to have bigger problem with it (but Austria is still in Europe now , does Scotland too ? Not sure...)

Have a good day, Bye.

Well, unless it is unusable due to technical problems, as I understand it has cause many people much consternation, then you may, over time, at least use sections of it. I know you prefer, at the moment, to concentrate on minimal styles, and hence a full symphony may not have been a good choice.

I'd say, don't write it off completely. Just leave it for now and then as time passes, keep going back in and see what happens.

English is fine.

I don't normally have any problems with hearthis to be honest. It now seems fine.

I listened to Robin... Another nice minimal piece, one which is mysterious and melancholic, as expected for a minor key. Was that the legato patch and did you have to do much tweaking afterwards?

Bandcamp is okay. I tend to use it only for my albums. I did post a couple of single tracks early on but quicky decided to stick to SoundCloud for single tracks and use Bandcamp for stuff I thought I'd like to try and sell.

I did. In fact, it's their Total Performance Cello. And yes, a few points to draw.

74 points for this only object.

Makes me do some maths. 2 200 points for this cello. Add the DBass and the Viola, and it's not less than 3 200 points for this piece. Plus the velocity lane, cause, as you know, it's velocity responsive.

Pff...silly job

Bye.

I`m about to do a proper recording of my one and only French-language song & I`m wondering what would be the best place to set it up for streaming access "v.f."
Your advice would be appreciated.

Hi Ivansc.

Not sure I'm the good person to answer that. BTW, not sure what you mean.

Do you mean because it's in French. I'm not sure that there are dedicated french songs platforms.

I do upload on Hearthis, as many, and I have my YT Channel for videos. That's it.

Sorry for the non answer.

No problems. I thought I would be in the "proper" studio recording this with friends this month but I just got a letter from the government saying I have to stay at home all the time now, cant even walk the dog anymore....

Hi Mick.

Thx.
I forget to credit the MGM for that use.

For the track, it might be that I'm a delicatessen addict.
I had a lot of fun doing it, track and video. And so much time to...

Nice you enjoy it too.

Hi jeranx

I hope you win but I don't think this dumb budget sci fi production is your bag and if I were you I wouldn't lose any sleep over it (not that you were going to anyway )

WhateverZ

Good luck!

I suppose they have to find work for all these trained actors and crew somehow

Hi Mick.

You noticed as I did the impeccable performance of the lead actor...😁

I haven't lost any sleep over it, but I'm struggling with the Youtube algorithm to get it to show up in the searches.

And the winning articles are very, very tempting.

Thanks for your support.

Hi there.

If I had to risk a translation, I'd say "fuck, that's strange".

Last production with BBC SO finally up and running, a little bit of Spitfire's Solo as well.

Lots of good stuff here! I like how bold your harmonic language is! Also, really interesting move scoring the West World Competition with slow strings. I never would have thought to do that, but it's surprisingly effective. It gives the scene a certain weight that the standard percussive style lacks.

Hi Mattheas.

Thank you for your complimentary comments.

You put your finger on it.

If I wanted to stand out at all for this contest, I had to go against what I think would be the majority of the submissions. Which I wouldn't be able to produce anyway.

My only regret is that I didn't have BBC SO up and running at the time, I could have done something much better, I think. Sniff...

BBC SO that you hear, though, in the last piece posted above. With a bit of the SOLO Strings, also from Spitfire.

Thanks, have a good day.

Trouble streaming this lossless file, I heard it once (1st attempt) but wanted to hear it again and.......not playing smooth, reluctant to start or stops (same issue as in the past).

I have recently made account there and playback of an mp3 has worked every time I tried it so that suggest to me there is possibly issue with high quality format streaming, at least with access from free accounts such as mine.
I don't know?
I was not logged in.
Some info for you if you need to investigate.

Track sounds serious and powerful, but I only heard it once.

ok

Hi Mick.

Happy to hear from you.
Hope you're doing well.

I'm waiting for more feedbacks to tell you if if there's a problem or not on the upload. I can read it easily from there.

You maybe right about the lossless, I don't really know.

Here is a Dropbox you can download :

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5jf7fl334d...udio.flac?dl=0

I hope it will work for you.
Powerful was my goal.

See ya.

I am listening from a downloaded file delivered from Dropbox.

It's very fitting with current news headlines.

Cheers!

I kind of hope the stream issue is only with my local equipment...and that mention of it is not going to cause you a headache.

Best!
