(grin) so that makes thre of you and nobody actually MADE a FR.
Dont see this getting much traction anyway.
Any of you care to explain WHY this would make (apparently) such a huge difference to your workflow?
I find it easy enough for me to see where I am in an arrangement with the current system.

Never gonna run around and desert you
// I visit FR every day.... still bumping some features that are easy implement but somehow still not there...//
devs... please make it adjustable for users or theme developers.... I really would love to see separation of odd and even bars by slightly saturated color.

With regards to the above screenshot, I feel that the primary benefit of the request would be to delineate larger blocks of time. So 4-8 bars, in order to see larger scale structures in simple arrangements easily. Seeing every other bar is less useful to me. Of course, I think the best implementation of this request would see us have a zoom-dependent alternation of colour. So if you were zoomed in farther, it would go to every other bar, and with a larger overview you could see things like 16-32 bar groupings
Now this request may seem frivolous to some, but I want to further the argument for its implementation by saying that it could be very powerful if some obvious limitations are also addressed. So for example, some might say "well I compose music where the structure of bars is based on a different number, or I have an extra bar here after the verse and that makes the colour alternation off after that point in the arrangement"
To that I would say that if the concept being presented here is thoroughly embraced, these considerations can also be addressed by allowing us to define the length of the alternation at further zooms (e.g. every other bar, but also every 12 bars as in a blues), and by varying the length of specific colour regions based on user override. In Reason for example, one can use "blocks" as a form of marker, and these are manual placed. When placed, the blocks colour the arrange background and can be moved around much like Reaper's regions. To me, this request would be most powerful if the colour alterations were automatically blocked out, but could be customized on an individual basis, to allow such things as defining a particular region as 9 bars long and continuing the alternation of colour every 8 bars thereafter (shifting the later blocks)
Such customization could potential be accessed through a right-click menu in the timeline. It would be less often used, so it's accessibility need not be ergonomic, only possible.

+100500! It is not only the beauty of the view. After working for 5-7 hours in default theme of Reaper eyes really tired. I love this DAW and now it has almost everything I need, but I really need a modern design which is not tired eyes.

question - once you have items in the project, will you even see the different colored grid?

What's a grid without some tint to make it readable?
It's not extravagant; it would just make the visuals more user friendly.
I re-bump this post.

It does help a lot. Also highlighting the whole tcp lane would be great (again like ableton does but it just makes ui sense). Not sure if I should open a new topic for that.

It should be theme-dependent, so you will lose nothing.
