added info to the above page on the budget amount/$1000.

no longer looking at the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, to many issues from what I've read so far.

Thank you

Rme for excellent first few inputs/drivers/rep and expand with adat is a bit of a win win imo.

IMHO, it's the 6 inputs that's going to bite you because you can get something fantastic with not as many, that also has ADAT IO then you can add on more inputs later, 2 cents. You could get something like an RME Baby Face pro and add a PreSonus DigiMax D8 and get 10 mic inputs for close to the same price. (799 + 350).

I know nothing about the digimax (meaning there may be a better combo with the RME) but the point is a better interface with less preamps and better IO will get you farther for longer in my opinion because once they start cramming pre's into an interface you are tied to those pres and the loss of other stuff they had to cut in order to get those pres in at a good price point.

Just personally spoke with someone stating the same type of focus, to forget about the extra XLR's for now.

what about the (Universal Audio Apollo Twin) is it an equal to the RME Baby Face pro?

I realize now that my main focus is to have the best interface for the with the least amount of latency for the $1k range.

I'm using Reaper/DAW, reason 7, superior drummer, Amplitude 3 and Melodyne upgrading to ver.4.

Thanks

Get a Babyface Pro for $750 and a Behringer 8 channel preamp for $100. That's 10 XLR inputs. Later you can upgrade to better pres.

Let us know how you get on with the Studio 192 sound wise and latency if you could. I have been looking at the Studio 192 on and off for a while now. Read a few things about the latency which weren't very encouraging though. I use Studio One 3 Pro as my main DAW and have done for a couple of years.

These questions seem to pop up about once a week. They all need to be moved to one sticky.
