Default Region Editing Questions.

Is there a way I can do the following things to edit a region.

I have regions where I have a specific color and name to designate the region.

Now I want to edit that region , splitting it in half while retaining the name and color . Is this possible ?, I found a script that splits a region but it does not retain the color and the split is not right either.

I also want to be able to choose an item and make it take the name of a region , I have not found anything to do that .

I would also like to copy a region , without copying the items belonging to it.

It would also be helpful to be able to take lets say two regions side by side and delete the middle point and make it become one larger region.

Also , reordering them in the region list would be super helpful..

Any ideas ?

Hi, have you searched the ReaPack?

If there is nothing like you need, I can have a look at it and script something.

Yes , searched the Reapack.
As far as I can tell there is nothing, unless I am missing it using the searchwords I can come up with.

Seems that Regions have been left behind a bit

It would also be nice to be able to make a new region and have that adapt the region color next to it or a selected region.

In general , I would love to be able to edit regions properly, split , duplicate , copy , paste , Managing colors etc.

I could get much more specific if you plan to code something ?

Sweet, and it retains the color, great , thanks !

Here is what I would like to be able to do with regions, dont know if this is all scriptable ?

Fill time selection with Regions on grid.
Fill time selection with Regions on grid/one random color.
Fill time selection with Regions on grid/adapt color of previous region in timeline.

Split regions on grid in time selection (Retaining name and color)
Split regions on grid in time selection/one random color.
Split regions on grid in time selection/adapt color of previous region in timeline.

This one is badly needed in my opinion.

Apply active take name to regions in time selection.
Apply active take name to all regions.

-

One random color to Regions in time selection with the same name.
One random color to Regions with the same name.

Gradient color to all Regions in time selection with the same name.
Gradient color to all Regions with the same name.

It would be nice if there was a way to Create regions from selected items - but if a few adjacent items have the same name they will get one Region. If that makes sense ?

not sure what the problem is ... there is an action that creates a single region from all currently selected items...

Not a big problem but when when using a large numer of regions , it would help to have one command that makes regions from all items , except when they have the same name and are adjacent, then they get one and the same region.
