How Random is RS5K Round Robin?
Hi all,
I've just recorded myself counting from 1 to 5, split each number into an item and loaded them into 5 RS5K instances on my track. Then set them up as round robins.; The first sample has a 20% chance of playing, the next 25%, then 33%, then 50% and finally 100%. They are all set to play with midi note 60.
When I hit note 60 it plays the samples in a random order but the same random order. For example, it may choose the order of 4, 2, 5, 3, 1. But then it always plays the samples in this order.
I expected it to play differently all the time so you could never predict what was going to come next.
Is there a way to get RS5K to do this?
Regards all,
Castle

Very curious as well as this round-robin is actually pretty useful for me.

There is probably some seed which needs to be triggered somehow, I guess. Justin can tell the truth behind it.

Having a "manual" explaining those parameters behaviours would be nice. If available already, its link here would help future visitors here, in 5 years or so.

The ReaEffects guide and the manual mention it but does not correctly describe it, will be fixed soon I bet

You've confused me sir. I would have assumed to check the round robin box would induce said round robin at whatever percentage of potential. 20% would infer every fifth time that sample would play.
To the original poaster, my round robin doesn't seem to work that way. The 100% sample gets almost all of it with a rare and random hit from other instances of RS5k set to lesser %. One instance definitely needs to be 100% or you get the occasion complete miss.
Looking forward to any less confused replies.

That is what I'm saying -- the OP felt like every 5th note wasn't random enough. Which means they didn't want Round-robin:

That is correct.
