Native Instruments-
Usually get a half price deal on everything including upgrades and "crossgrades" in their Summer Sale.

All of Toontrack`s stuff goes on sale from time to time, but there doesnt seem to be any real regularity as far as I know. I get regular emails offering deals from them, though. Looks like they decided to look after their existing clients, which is a good idea.

Last year I was very "meh" about Black Friday sales. I picked up a few upgrades and extensions to complete some collections, but for the most part, I have everything I need, and almost everything I want.
This year, I am even more "meh" about it. I have one item on my wish list (Orange Tree Samples' Rubber Bridge guitar) -- just waiting to see if they have a sale, and if the item meets my desired price. Maybe (maybe), I will get Seqund, which is on sale at Plugin Boutique (which is cool, because I missed the introductory sale price a month or two ago, and now I have a second (pun intended) chance to get it at that same price).
The Black Rooster sale looks good. If I were just starting out, I would go for it -- but most of their collection is something I already have from other vendors. So as good as it looks, I'll pass.
I did pick up Cherry Audio's Elka-X earlier in the year at the introductory price discount. Other than that, just "meh" -- I have everything I need.
Maybe if someone has a good sale on Arturia's Key Lab 88 mkII .. but it would have to be a really good sale, since I would be replacing a perfectly good controller just to get a few extra keys/faders/knobs and better integration into Arturia's software.
I’m not trying to rain on anyone else’s Black Friday, but it’s just not a big deal for me this year.

Lunker,
I already had Xils Mini SynX so didn't bother with Elka-X - but it looked like another decent emulation. Not that bothered about reduced price upgrade to synX big brother from Xils either.
Mini SynX is the full Elka Synthex in emulation with recent updates a modern scaling GUI now too.

I haven't used VocalSynth a ton since buying it a couple years ago, but pretty sure it has no pitch correction onboard; just a bunch of wild fx that work well on vox.
Don't recommend Waves at all, but Ovox does do pitch correction, geared towards controlling synths with voice, which is especially great if you can't sing OR play keys but hear melodic stuff in your head.
Anyone know any good alternatives to Ovox, preferably native Linux?
Trying to wean myself off Waves, as their licensing system has screwed me more than once and I'd rather have more future-proof projects, not dependent on B$DRM.

IK Multimedia #.5 Studio Max
I just read it's not 500MB but 500 Gigs! Anyone know what would be a minimum spec for running this stuff off an external drive? I have a USB C 3.1 gen 1 port which is 5Gigs/sec max.

These days the only waves plugins I’d recommend would be the Waves Submarine for generating musical low frequencies 1 and 2 octaves below the original audio, and the DTS plugins if you need to downmix or upmix music. Other than that, other vendors do things much better and aren’t going to constantly money-grab you

That's a good offer. I can't remember if I paid $99 or $149 for the V8 to V9 upgrade. There were several nice instruments added in V8 and V9.

Well ... I'm feeling less "meh" about Black Friday now, and it's not even here yet.
Orange Tree Samples started their sale this week (it runs through Dec. 1st), and the prices more than met my expectations! With a combination of the BF discount, an "orange slice" discount I had forgotten about, and a bundle upgrade, I picked up three guitars (Rubber Bridge, Django, and Dry Relic) for $140 total (instead of $179 each). I could have had Rubber Bridge alone for about $90, but it was worth the extra $50 to get the other two guitars.
I hope everybody else gets great deals on the stuff they want!

I picked up a bundle from Abberrant DSP. Very cool plugins at a great price for being creative. I grabbed the Sketch Cassette and the Digitalis. $30 for both. I know that one of Steven Wilson's favorite plugins is the Sketch Cassette.

Upgraded to Amplitube "Max" from "Standard" for $75 (incl jam points). Still haven't touched half the stuff I bought last BF, so...see you turkeys next year.

For sure at least USB 3, but make sure the drive is solid state and not mechanical HDD.

Previously hobbyists would either pony up or use cheaper plugins because they were really a different customer group with their own plugin ecosystem. But what has happened is that the recording revolution blurred the lines between pro and non-pro with the largest group now actually being semi-professionals recording from home, prosumers and happy enthusiasts and hobbyists alike. Because the market is now much bigger prices should come down to what customers are prepared to pay; which is the sales prices.
So the $200 price point is not really valid for regular plugins anymore but the developers don't want to change if they can try to have it both ways for a little longer.
My two cents.

I agree. The market has come so far since the early oughts. I remember using Jeskola Buzz and all the free broken plugins. I happily pay the for vsts in the $25-$50 range. The only free plugin I really like is Vital. I think he needs a kick starter to make it a paid version, eg it has some minor rough edges, that could be polished. Surge is getting there.
I think some of the larger additive/granular synth plugins as well as the advanced vocal processing suites are probably worth it, but delayed gratification is the name of the game.

Fond memories of Kjaerhus Audio and Variety of Sound as well. And technogremlins epic thread of free plugins. Those were the days before we all got spoiled.

Let me Google that for you:

His name is Torben Kjaerhus Larsen, there is lots of info on his case on Danish/non-English sites, if you care to go down the rabbit hole. He ran a global paedo/child porno ring. He tried to buy a Romanian baby. He got banged up for at least seven years in 2016 I think. Hope he never gets out.

It's funny. I used Brave Search and couldn't find anything. Guess I was too afraid to put pedofile in Google Thanks though and enough off-topic. Now I have something to catch up on. I totally missed that case. Sounds pretty horrible.

€29 well spent.
Agreed, all the models have improved, plus that brand new guitar model (sold separately) is so good and I didn't even know I wanted another virtual guitar, usually I delete them!

Yeah, I got the Pianoteq upgrade for free, as I bought a license JUST less than a year ago (by three days!) New version definitely sounds better. I only have Stage with the Petrof and the Electric Pianos, cos that's all I need, but I love it.

I did the update to Arturia V9, and took the 3 months of UAD Spark for 99¢.
Will update Pianoteq tonight and that's me done for black Friday!
I thought about upgrading Komplete, but there's just not enough new to tempt me.

Not bought any Black Friday offers this year, yet.
Never bitten with the Arturia offers.
I picked up the Pianoteq update - not Black Friday pricing anyway, €29 = normal pricing.
I wasn't tempted by The Komplete offer either.
Roll on the next edition of Komplete (and then that summer's following 50% off sale), unless in the unlikely event I want something that requires the new version of Kontakt - unlikely. Probably won't even bother with the summer 50% off sale. Komplete update pretty poor (for me) this year.

It's in bundles and sales all the time. I got it for 50 with Iris 2, Trash 2 and some other junk. Seems like that pops up at least 5 times a year on PB. Keep watchin, shouldn't be long.

Fart Man
Woohoo! Fart Man is on sale for only $9.99
https://rdgaudio.com/product/fart-man/
Over 1200 different fart sounds! All that's missing is a testimonial from some elite studio saying "We can't tell the difference between the VST and the real thing."
Hoof Hearted needs to be told about this sale!
