Very strange Envelope bug in latest pre (maybe others?)

I am on OSX 10.12.1 , Reaper 5.30Pre10.
Just tested and i don't have that issue.

That is standard/default behavior for volume envelopes, scaling by amplitude. If you have the default volume envelope range (preferences/editing behavior/envelope display) set to +12dB or +24dB then the top half of the envelope scales differently from the bottom (which is always -inf to +0dB). So any envelope segment that spans +0dB will have a kink.

If you don't like the kink you can either set the range to +0dB or +6dB, or you can right-click the envelope and set the envelope default to fader scaling.

Frankly this behavior is quite confusing and not at all transparent to the user... I know that this is only a visual representation but only because I stumbled upon this thread. Otherwise I would have thought this is a bug.

The Playrate slider has this kink problem too, is there anything that can be done about this?

Not much that can be done about this since the scaling of playrate envelope is asymmetric (bottom half covers a range of 0.9, upper half covers a range of 3.0).

One thing I'd like to get clarification on with this though is am I right in thinking that now to get a natural "log" fade out using an envelope, I need to just use a straight "non-curved" line now right? (when using the new style automation values)

I know it's been around for a while but I haven't noticed it yet as I normally end up doing my fades on the item's end where it still behaves the old way.

As much as I'm happy about having the better automation control, it is something that others could fall for I guess until you actually hear it cutting off too early if you try to curve the line like you would normally.
