Default Reaper 5 Using In Wind 7 64..?

Hello..Question if I may?..I'm still using Windows 7 ( Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know....)..Will the version 5 of Reaper work and if so, (I'm v3'ish now)..(As they say, " If it aint broke ,don't fix it" comes into play here"..)..It has served me well and I've done several CD's and other's also..That being said, " I know I'll probably have to buy a new license, correct..?..No problem..I just want to know if v5 will work on Wind 7-64 without me pulling out all my hair..!..Will the "portable install " work in this case so I can leave what I'm doing now intact just in case..?

Don`t worry - Reaper is backwards compatible with just about every Windows version, so versions 5 and 6 will work fine under W7.

I'm using portable install on Win7 right now.
Works without any problems.

Successfully running V6.3 on win 7. Windows itself is starting to feel tired but Reaper behaves itself.

Thanks fellas..!...I thought I was the only one still using Win 7....So, if I download v5 into a " portable install",it will not affect my existing setup..?..How do I get my existing projects into the new 5 version..?

I am in the same situation: Reaper 5 on W7, with old projects I need to keep working

Can I install both versions of Reaper ( existing v5 and new v6 ) & flip between them?

Thanks

the latest version of reaper should run your old work....
You can always re install your older version if you need to.
I don't know if you can run two versions from the same computer.
Maybe if you do a custom install- check with somebody else about that..
I do know that you can run another version from a usb drive.

Yes. Install the second one (v6) as portable install, so both installs (v5 non-portable and v6 portable) are independent from each other: http://lacinato.com/cm/blog/25-reaperportable

In comparison, if you do a non-portable install on the second one (v6), as well: both v5 and v6 will share the same resource files which might cause problems.

In any case: it's a good strategy in general to make a backup of your configurations first, just in case
