Default Play: first note in score is cut off

When Play is inserted in a score, playing back midi notes, the first note is cut off in about 50% of the case, when a keyswitched instrument (KS) is used.

This happens regardless how long / short the KS note is.

Once the score is going, all seems fine. It's just the first note where Reaper doesn't seem to have its act together.

Edit: happens with non keyswitched instruments too.

Rendering one track at the time and muting the VST does not help. It is not a computer resources issue, my computer is more than powerful enough (12 GB RAM, Core i7, 1.5 hard disks).

This does not happen in Sibelius.

Update 7:30 pm - it is still screwed up.

Happens with normal non keyswitched instruments as well. Think I mentioned that before.

All other tracks are muted.

Playback - first note is cut off.

Again - first note is cut off.

Again - first note is cut off.

Again - plays back ok.

Redering - first note is cut off.

Back to playback.

First note is cut off.

First note is cut off.

First note is cut off.

First note is cut off.

Back to rendering.

First note is cut off.

Back to playback.

And so on, and so forth.

Update 8 pm - it's funny, it seems to be happening only when I select one track and 'render to stem and mute the VST track'.

When I render the entire file I am fine.

Update 3/19:

When I drag the midi tracks a little bit to the right (starting at anytime after 0.1 seconds) everything is okay. Tried this a couple of times today, dragging the midi files back and forth, and the behavior is consistent. Shorter than 0.1 s = trouble, > 0.1 s = fine.

So it seems that Reaper has a problem getting started right from 0.0. A workaround is to drag everything a little bit to the right.

Default Same Problem

I was trying out Reaper a few months ago and I couldn't resolve this very issue. First midi note on the 1 beat would get cut off. A drum bass for example would get just the tail end of it's duration played. The next midi note plays fine. However, if I start play on the first beat of any measure (without any lead in) I get the same result. I enabled "Preserve PDC delayed monitoring in recorded items" (as was suggested as a remedy) and didn't have any success. I just downloaded the most recent update - no change. Any one else having this problem? Any suggestions?

Sorry, no idea really but have you guys this

checked?

Prefs->Plugins->VST->"Don't flush synthesizers on stop" would be another option that might have influence on this.

That seems to be enabled by default. Didn't have an effect either way. Thanks for the suggestion.
