Default Copying items to another project

I just started wondering if it'd be possible to do a Cubase-style global copy of items to another project, using ReaScript where it would match tracks by GUID initially and optionally fall back to name-based matching.

Basically kind of like SWS Snapshots but for items, within time selections.

On a quick glance this should work by using GetSetMediaTrackInfo_String for the GUID and then jumping around with SelectProjectInstance. Just not sure if that'll be too slow for larger projects. But you'd basically have to do it one track at a time so you don't get thrown off by new or renamed tracks. Seems a bit kludgy though.

Has anyone attempted something like this yet? Don't have time to try this myself right now, so thought I'd just ask if anyone is further along with this than me (or indeed found something that makes this not work!).
