Default Reaper has stopped rendering time selection

I'm trying to render a time selection of a project by making the selection with the marker at the top then go into the render dialog and select 'Render Time Selection.' It renders the whole length of the project, not just the time selection. I don't recall having trouble with this before did something change?

do you have a marker at the start and the end of the time selection?
did you double click between the 2 markers to make it a region?
(apologies if I'm using the wrong terminology.)

Nothing changed....

Can you render a custom time range?

I don't know what to suggest, other than posting screen shots of the time selection and the render window so we can check that you're doing it right....

Maybe reinstall?

OK I think I figured it out. I held down ALT and made the selection on the time ruler and that worked. I don't recall having to hold down ALT before but maybe I'm going senile...

^ Same.

Maybe there's something broken in the project? Try another one?
Maybe there's something glitching in the puter. Reboot?

I'm not at my machine, but if I had to guess, I'd say that loop selection and time selection are no longer linked to one another.
