Default RT Kernel Distro list

Ive decided that i want to keep my hand in and test a few distros while i continue to run Windows for now, just to see what is out there, maybe one will click for me, so can we get a list of distros that are or are capable of having a realtime Kernel.
Have a USB live testable version would be handy for sure too, and also i would like to keep to a bare minimum of installed software.

Cheers.

Most of the common ones have low latency kernels available in their repos. Regarding RT I'm not sure. If you choose a Debian based distro you can always add the AVLinux Kernels.

If it's Debian Sid you should be careful since they're built with gcc6 (Some Debian based distros chop off pre-gcc7 compilers to avoid excess fat). Make sure it's in your system. Other good alternatives for Sid can be Liquorix, Siduction's towo or even antiX's RT kernels built for Sid.

For the buntus, Ubuntu Studio should have RT ones too.

Fedora!

This site LOOKS dead, but the RT Kernels are actually totally up-to-date and the maintainer is active and cool, I have swapped a few emails with him:

Here is the actual repo, as you see it is available for Fedora 28 (the latest):

BUT I would not care too much about RT Kernels. I am getting block size 256 / 96k running very demanding softsynths with the stock kernel and the latency is unnoticeable. Try stock first and see what you think, you will save yourself a lot of messing about.

Yes, those are the usual hurdles of vanilla Linux flavors. They use to be quite bare-bones needing some homework by the user. That's why many users chose a distro based on whatever flavor (Debian, Arch, Ubuntu, you name it...). They usually address those issues for you in advance getting your firmware, drivers, printers, whatever... working right out of the box.

Once said that, I much prefer starting from vanilla distros, doing my homework and getting just what I want into my box.

There are also Debian installers with the nonfree drivers included.

Also Ubuntu MATE and KXStudio Repo have worked for me before I just remembered, and going to try it myself now.
