Audio Imported From CD Using Reaper is Incomplete
When I user Reaper to import CD audio by clicking Insert > Media Item, then navigating to my CD drive, the file Reaper generates is always missing about 200 ms at the end. I have tried this with multiple CDs. I imported the same CD tracks using iTunes as well, and put the two files side by side in a project, and you can see the difference.

My usual method is to rip the track off the cd and save as a wav file via the windows player app, which always works 100% when you import the wave into Reaper.
Never tried to rip a track from within Reaper.

I've been using XLD using secure ripper mode (which is supposed to be more thorough with error detection/correction than CDparanoia which is supposed to be much better than ripping with no error detection/correction like iTunes or the old stock Windows apps).
I didn't know Reaper had something integrated either. What algorithm does Reaper use? Is there also a ripper built-in that handles DVDA format or bluray format as well that I missed?

Maybe one of you could just rip one and help answer his question? I'd do it but not home and no CD nearby right now.

I Just did a test in the latest version of Reaper, and all tracks was correct, and nothing was cut off like the OP describes.
Wish I could be of more help, but I can't reproduce it.

Just as a follow up, I've tried to reproduce what's in that picture.
I've changed import settings, etc. and tried different cd's.
They all import correctly, and nothing is cut off at the end.
Have you previously imported cd audio tracks with Reaper before with success?
Are the files you're importing .cda files?

Confirmed.
Imported a CD with Reaper vs. XLD with secure ripper mode.
First track from the Reaper rip start at 18149 samples into track 1.
Index points moved 667 samples back for every track following (when the Reaper rip audio is aligned with original and track 1 starting at 18149 samples as noted). No data lost or corrupted though. The XLD ripped CD tracks all fall on 75 frame index points as expected with the 1st track at 0.
Last Reaper rip track ends 667 samples early (following the same pattern as above).
Next a DVDA disc:
Shows DVDA structure files in the AUDIO_TS folder all greyed out. Appears to not recognize the format.
Next a bluray disc:
Shows bluray structure files in the AACS folder all greyed out. Appears to not recognize the format.
My guess is Reaper had a scratch version of a CD ripping function that was never finished properly and never expanded to include DVDA or bluray discs.
Use XLD!

Thanks Serr! I don't know what index points are, but I appreciate the confirmation.
I don't normally try to import audio from CDs using REAPER, but I was in a pinch recently where I was at work and needed to rip a CD quickly, and my work computer didn't have any programs that could do it, so I pulled up my REAPER portable install thinking that would save the day again.
Does anyone know of a Windows program I could carry around as a portable install on a flash drive to rip CDs? XLD appears to be Mac only, and I have macs available at work, but they are all the iMacs without CD drives.

index points = the song start locations
I said "index points moved back". Another way to put that is: Every track ended 667 samples early and then the following track started with that 667 samples from the end of the previous track appended to the beginning of it.

Since media player is a default install in all windows installs isn't it already sort of portable?

Exact Audio Copy was what I used when I was on Windows. It's free.

After some test today. I can also confirm the bug.
I used the latest version of foobar2000, and yes, they have a portable install option as well.
I imported 11 tracks in Reaper, and the same in foobar2000 from an audio CD.
The result is that Reaper had added 48 samples to the beginning of the first song, and at the end of first song, Reaper had cut off 5136 samples.
Foobar2000 works well from my test, it's a small download, and was easy to install, and it looks like they keep it updated as well.

Like EpicSounds mentioned, years ago, I used Exact Audio Copy too.
So yeah, IMHO, this is a Reaper bug.
